ORH_wxman
Did NE CT get like 6-8 in that if IRC It was more like 4-5"....that was one of the events you were dumbfounded in....you kept asking me if it was mixing with sleet.
H2Otown_WX
CIPS says this storm is a good analog too http://www.meteo.psu...2007/us1231.php I have bad memories of that storm...my worst forecast bust of the '07-'08 season...only black mark that season. Trended into a sneaky warm layer that caused sleet to mix in. Also the system had a cruddy precip shield that got worse as it neared us and qpf busted. Def the opposite of 1/23/06 which was a very healthy looking precip shield. Darn I was hoping it would be 12-31-

ORH_wxman
Ray<Of course it did, its winter 10-11, but it will stop at some point<Ray Its funny how the winter turned epic after the calendar flipped to 2011. Even Boxing Day before the 2011 flip was a mild bust in a lot of spots.

Even Boxing Day before the 2011 flip was a mild bust in a lot of spots. Yeah it is. I was in Florida for the boxing day storm, reading obs from my hotel room. When I woke up to find my area got "only" a foot, it was the best negative bust of my life. I didn't want to miss 20" of snow and blizzard conditions. weathafella
That was my best storm, but that jackpot zone was very local. My theory of the reason we did so well is because I was supposed to be on a plane to Chicago the day before and the weather gods didn't keep up... Think about it.. seasonal trend is more stronger with the vortex and northern stream.. 1/12 anyone? Chrisrotary12
It's amazing that we are still feeling the effects from today's storm, suddenly snowing again here. And the next storm is inside of 72 hours lol. Talk about a quick turn around.

Thats what makes this most recent storm so impressive. Imagine what it would have been like if all of the energy came out of the west with the storm. MaineJayhawk
I was looking for a NW small step, not a NW giant leap for mankind. Not the final solution, hopefully for mby it's somewhere in the middle of 18z and 00z NAM.
