Hoosier
JB hype machine in full force he has cut a new Big Dog video outlying the worst week of winter weather coast to coast that he has seen in 50 yrs. Mentions 1966,1978 and 1996 superstorms, and thinks that this will be one. No 1950?
ILSNOW
No 1950? he showed the 12z Euro with the storm bombing out to 948ish along the New England Coast, but in true JB fashion doesnt really say where he thinks the storm will track.
natecast
I think this has OKC to STL to INDY snow storm written on it. Edited to add OKC. Continue.
ukrocks
I really think this one is going to be an Apps Runner or a STL special. Will be a fun one to track. There's nothing to hold it back from going west, so let hopes it doesn't go too far west.

OHSnow
This track won't happen because it would bury Pittsburgh. It only happens every 5 years or so. The models always bury us 100+ hours out but it will eventually go east and put us on the edge or west and give a rain or a mix. Well I don't think this one will go too far east with that big ridge of high pressure over the Atlantic Ocean.
Organizing Low
i just read JBs comments in the new england thread lol comparing it to a nuclear war wow then i saw the 18z GFS 936mb has the GFS ever printed out a pressure that low?!?!? OHSnow
Well I don't think this one will go too far east with that big ridge of high pressure over the Atlantic Ocean. Hmm... the only thing ingredient really missing would be a high pressure over Quebec or Atlantic Canada. That would help shunt the storm northwest like in the April 1901 and November 1950 storms that dumped more than 40" in parts of eastern Ohio. Without that, this will probably track along I-95 or up the coastal plain -- maybe similar track to March 1993 or a little east of there.
Hoosier
i just read JBs comments in the new england thread lol comparing it to a nuclear war wow then i saw the 18z GFS 936mb has the GFS ever printed out a pressure that low?!?!? Here's the excerpt. This is extreme wording even for JB lol "An atmospheric apocalypse. In all the years that I've gone back and researched, I cannot find anything to match the severity of what's coming next week. It will be the week of all winter weeks. Will be like surviving a nuclear war and coming out of the bunker afterwards to find devastation. Severe cold and a superstorm that is perhaps unequaled in winter weather history." Stevo6899
Here's the excerpt. This is extreme wording even for JB lol The fact that he doesn't even put out an idea of where he thinks it will track shows it's all hype.

buckeye
I have no clue. Buckeye, you read him often, has he ever sounded that extreme? i watched the vid, and he did say all that...however in fairness...i think it was kind of taken out of context and I'm not sure he said it in that order. In other words that remark about nuclear war was at the end of the video when he was kinda laughing and joking around about how winter may end after next week but the weenies wouldn't care because by then it would be like coming out of a bunker....etc. etc. but to answer your question, the last time i saw him hype like this was probably march 2001 fiasco. As others have stated, he did not get specific. He merely showed the pattern evolution of march '93 and the similarities as well as some plymouth maps showing the Jan '78 storm. I do think he has hinted that it's more of an inland threat. I also watched ken reeves point/counterpoint and they are also in full hype mode about next week. Gonna be an interesting few days coming up and accuwx is gonna be going nuts.

SpartyOn
My goodness the JB hype machine is waging a full scale weather weenie carnival. Although some signs are pointing to a classic apps runner with a GOM tap. Only question is where and when? How strong and which side of the apps? Lots of talk of a thaw beyond this or complete reversal of early winter..Shifting into a Nina pattern. This is gona be an insane couple of weeks. Powerball
Ah yes, the 84 hr nam is already setting the stage. s/w from the pacific cutting underneath the ridge while the western piece of the lobe and its -33 850's ready to come down and 'completely" phase in with it. Paging Roger Smith.............. No. Not to disrespect Roger Smith, but he probably jynxed our last "Peak Energy Superbomb."
