dmc76
If we can get more with a possible storm next week, think this would be the most snow I have seen on the ground in my short 24 year old life. 2009 was the last time I had this much on the ground
Stevo6899
2009 was the last time I had this much on the ground Nice pic. I wasnt into looking into the models much when we had two good winters in 07-08 08-09, but from what I remember we didn't really have a storm dump snow on top of a good snow depth. Guru Of Reason
I got screwed with sleet and a dry slot. My total ended up being 2-3 inches of ice, sleet, and snow.

janetjanet998
I got screwed again as far as the data going into the climate data which always happens during big event the spotter 2 SW of the airport always comes in with a lowball figure 11.8 inches for this event while everyone around him reported 14-17..inlcuding 15 in the "official NWS obs for Peoria
Thundersnow12
Besides being the only one who didn't see any lightning in the chicagoland area....It was an overachiever here...I will never see the snowfall rates matched with the insane wind that I saw for hours, incredible. Oh ya, and 20" helped out.
on_wx
Snowfall forecasts for my city went as... Environment Canada: 8-12" The Weather Network: 10-14" Actual: 4.8" New tally came in from the university putting the total at 6.5". Not half bad. IWXwx
I've been busy with EMA all week and just catching up on the post-mortem. Our total was 8.1". 3.8" of pure snow on Monday, then 3.5" of a combination of snow and sleet (mostly sleet) on Tuesday, then finished it off with a glaze of freezing drizzle and .8" of snow on Wednesday. The sleet storm was epic. The storm did not over or under perform here .It ended about as expected. I was in the same boat with the LAF crew, being right in the transition zone. Also, I've got a nice 11" snowpack. It looks like we will keep freshening it up over the next several days.

wall_cloud
you guys crack me up. You got screwed because you didn't get as much ice as you wanted/expected? I'd count that as being blessed.

Yeah, I don't understand that either. I was rooting for snow, but got a rare sleet storm. I'd take that any day over ice. Ice is catastrophic. wall_cloud
You gotta admit you like bad weather just as much as we do. there is a difference in wishing for it without regard (by appearances) and "liking" it while understanding its ramifications. Its like those rare chasers that cheer from afar when they see a tornado damage someone's home. I realize that its going to happen but that doesn't mean you root for it or act disappointed when it doesn't. Just my point of view.

I see what your saying and don't want harm done to people either but don't you find calm weather boring? In other words do you like storms or not? If there is bad weather coming people should be hunkered down anyways and therefore no injuries should happen even though people get injured anyways in reality.
