Logan11
One way to look at it is: To get 10 inches total out of a system that gives Chicago a blizzard is really not bad. That kind of cutter could have been disaster under some circumstances. But the forecasts were way too high. It's an underperformer...especially if you're going by the high end 20-25" forecasts that everyone was spitting out days ago. That's why you don't go balls to the wall on TV 3 days out...especially in a SWFE. I never liked the ratio possibility up here for today unless the storm was further south. Looks like it will be our friend Organizing Low that gets in on the deform snows up in S QB. I'm going to end up with 10:1, or even a hair less, ratios after this heavy batch moves through. I think my 2 day total will be about 10" by 1pm. Then maybe we add some trivial light sleet pellets, snow grains, or even freezing drizzle before the upper lows move back through and we get a little fluff on top from the hanging back precip. That's still a bit of a wildcard for me right now though...it's more likely for NNE especially with some upslope N winds and better H7 moisture. I was going with 12-18" for a 2 day total here which will be a little high. We may flirt with the low end, but something like 9-15" would've been better. The 20-25"/18-24" numbers from WHDH/NECN a couple days ago didn't have a prayer.

DomNH
If you're normal and don't have a tree limb breaking power outage fetish like kev - isn't it such a relief when the thermometer goes from 31.9 to 32.1 so you avoid the heavy ice. The tree limbs breaking and power transformers blowing in '08 was a weather phenomena I had never experienced before to that magnitude, so it was honestly exciting as it was happening. Once the house got down to 50F and the nights were completely black everywhere, it went from exciting to awful.

jconsor
Several locations SW and N/NW of BOS, as well as over northern CT, have around or slightly over 30" on the ground as of 7AM this morning. These totals are slightly under the amount that was on the ground in Feb 1969 and Feb 1978 for most areas SW and N/NW of BOS. 40/70 Benchmark
You you had told me that Chicago would see a blizzard and I'd get 12.5" of snow\sleet and not get within 10* of freezing, then I'd take it and sprint.
CT Rain
It's an underperformer...especially if you're going by the high end 20-25" forecasts that everyone was spitting out days ago. My rule of thumb is never go much above 12" in a SWFE regardless of QPF
mattb65
Looks like BOX things we freeze at the surface in the city around 2pm - RUC says 4-5 pm I'll trust the local mets, any other models good on predicting surface temps by the hour? Today: Rain, possibly mixed with sleet before 2pm, then freezing rain, possibly mixed with sleet between 2pm and 5pm, then snow, freezing rain, and sleet after 5pm. High near 33. Northeast wind between 10 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible. Organizing Low
this storm was so intense in the MW it ripped a hole much worse than most SWFE which is why everyone is mixing further north Baro_instability has mentioned that the models just dont have paramerization schemes that can match the feedback cyclogenesis this storm showed (whatever that mean lol)

Logan11
Even is this event that probably should have been more here...you get more in E MA. I'd need a powerful Noreaster tracking about through ORH to ever pull even on season snowfall probably. HAH My season snowfall is gonna be around 60" after this event.
