40/70 Benchmark
How is this storm doing from the MA border north? Exceeding or not quite meeting expectations? NAM flipped on the next one...no mucho phaso like the 0z...more in line with the others. You were right as far as mby is concerned.....about 75\25 sleet\snow. Not questioning but I'm just curious, because I thought sleet accumulated much, much slower. For example, I have about .3" sleet in the past 1 hr and 15 minutes of almost pure sleet. w1pf
Sleet counts as snow. Yes I know. Just pointing out that it has been only sleet for the past hour and a half, and the accumulation over the past hour and a half was 1.5" .. of sleet. Sorry if I wasn't clear. ROOSTA
Sleet pouring down and accumulating. Those returns 50dBZ in N ORH county must demark the slug of ML warming. No ice please no Ice. I kind of like power and heat.

NAM flipped on the next one...no mucho phaso like the 0z...more in line with the others. I'm 14 mi. from Jackson VT and we will easily meet the low end snow total expectations here after I had my doubts around 7am. As I stated in my last post I've got a conservative estimated 12"+ since yesterday.

Clinch Leatherwood
You were right as far as mby is concerned.....about 75\25 sleet\snow. Hopefully we don't have to tangle with these temp issues much going forward/or the pattern changes and the models start getting it right. For now, doesn't matter if it's a coastal, SWFE or an inverted trough if you're near the mix line on the models think warmer and faster.
dendrite
You were right as far as mby is concerned.....about 75\25 sleet\snow. Many of the SREF members the other day had the ptype turning to sleet even in NNE. That was a little bit of a red flag to me. The SREFs handled the warming aloft pretty well in the 1/18 SWFE too. It's funny to think that a few days ago we were debating if even Kevin would stay all snow.

It was pretty intense for a while around 9AM or so. I suppose some snow could have mixed in during that time, but it didn't look like it out the window. ...tom

It must have been more intense there.
