PHL CWA Feb 1-2 Storm OBS and Discussion part 2

The faster movement probably doesn't make too much of a difference (around here at least) since a slower movement would've probably just meant a lot more plain rain (which I'm doubtful we see any of at this point with the rate this storm is moving).

Here though it could make a difference for the morning commute. Might be out of here by then.

LOL, boy did we ever dodge a bullet up here. I had prepared for a major ice storm, and what did I get? An inch and a half of sleet. I'll be willing to bet we only got 0.1" of ice. So little of it accumulated that my wife's washlines aren't even sagging at all. We must have ran 90-100% sleet for most of the storm.

Current temperature is 29.5 as of 5:00AM. So how did everyone else do?

34 in Allaire. 25 at the pocono cabin. Noticeable glaze on the trees in Allaire.......though you can see melting occurring with temps edging above freezing. I heard the salt truck pass through just before the 2 hr delayed school opening was announced. Every phone I own, be it landline or cell, email and txt goes off at 515am. Every week in 2011 there has either been a school closing or delay. I personally liked the old listen to the radio process for closings. It provided me an extra hour and 30 minutes sleep.

just hit 32.0° IMBY

everything is shiny, no doubt, but I tried to measure ice on a spot on the picnic table i cleared yesterday and there isn't even any there. Not even 1/10"! But there's definitely more than that on the tree in my front yard. So I don't know what to report....

Is the tree right up against the house? Crack a piece of ice off of an exposed tree and measure the radius (not the diameter!).
