Tornado warning for Trumbull County, Ohio. Doppler radar shows a supercellular thunderstorm with some rotation north of Newton Falls or near Warren tracking to the east-southeast, very near to the track of the May 31, 1985 F5 tornado. If it holds together Mercer or Lawrence Counties may need severe thunderstorm or tornado warnings.

Fortunately, the storm has weakened a bit and there is not as much rotation... so the warning has been allowed to expire and replaced with a severe thunderstorm warning. Still capable of producing golf-ball size hail per the warning however.

Uhh, yeah. What they said. ^^^ Quite windy for 5 minutes or so. I thought I was going to lose some trees. Did lose power for 30 seconds or so.

Except, where do they come up with these locations? Morado? Eastvale? Where the heck are those places?? How about Aliquippa? I know where that's at, and it was here around 11:30 p.m.

As the line of storms was moving this way I was expecting some lightning and thunder and some decent rains.

I have had neither but strong winds gusting 30-50 mph now for about 40 minutes now.

Weird.

Yeah, not exactly sure what is going on with this...never seen anything happen like this. Usually, you get a 5 minute or so "burst" of wind, but this has been ongoing for close to an hour. Wonder why?

I'm detecting a little rotation with the line of storms passing through northern Ohio... nothing major, but I wouldn't be entirely shocked if a brief, rainwrapped F0 or F1-type tornado occurred somewhere along that line as it moves eastward.

Also potential for golfball (or larger) hail... VILs are practically off the chart.

No sooner do I note the rotation and a tornado warning is now in effect for the Akron area.

Trained weather spotters reported a funnel with that at 7:38 PM near Cuyahoga Falls. That corresponds right to where I was detecting the weak rotation... that area of rotation is moving into northern Portage County. There's another area of weak rotation just north of Akron, which may follow the path of that rotation. It's also capable of producing funnel clouds or a weak tornado.

The storms that are in northern Ohio right now may effect northwestern PA later, if they hold together by then. May just be a little too far north, and moving in too much of a northeasterly direction, to affect our area at all. Unless something develops on the southern end, then we may have a shot at something. Something to keep an eye on anyway.

Looking ahead a bit, it looks like the unofficial start of summer is going to feel very much like summer. Temps may get up near 90 around Memorial Day. Very warm weekend coming up it looks like too.

Wunderground detecting 2 separate tornado vortex signatures in Trumbull County, Ohio. I'm more concerned about the cell just west of Canton... looks like it may be developing a hook echo.

Hmm... looking at the data back home at Youngstown, today was the 8th straight warmer than normal day. Looking at the forecasts for the next week, as well as long-range models, that streak could really begin to add up. I'm thinking this summer could be similar to last with sustained warmth and humidity, but no really extreme heat (due at least partially to the very wet ground).
