CoraopolisWx
So much for that! We have some showers and storms moving through the area right now. There was quite a bit of lightning on the way home last night. It seems most of the forecasters underestimated that boundary a bit yesterday. jwilson
Had lightning off to the west here for a good four to five hours last night. It began around 8:30 or so but the rain didn't move in until near midnight. It was brief. Looks like our nicest weather since that stretch in February comes to an end today as two upper level lows move into the region, one followed directly by another, leaving us with unsettled and not as nice weather for what looks to be a whole week. I miss those quick-hitting cold fronts that just come in and leave, providing only a brief respite from the sunny weather. Maybe the end of May will be nicer but I can't say for sure. CoraopolisWx
Pretty decent hail just went through. Between penny and nickle sized was the largest I saw. Also alot of lightning and thunder, with heavy rain. With the sun coming through there might be a decent rainbow out there.

north pgh
Another .67 inches of rain this evening and still raining moderately. 4.24 for the month so far and we are barely half way thru it. This after 5.30 for April and 4.09 for March. Safe to say we are well above normal rainfall. At least the ducks are happy. :loon:
meatwad
We are 17.94" away from reaching out normal rainfall PIT is currently at 19.91" of rain for the year so far, we got a little over a half year's worth of rain, and we normally don't reach that until July 6th. We are currently 7.04" above normal so far. Normal to date is 12.09". This has very 2003ish feel.
blackngoldrules
And we're just going to keep adding to that total over the next few days it looks like. At least we don't have to worry about brown patches on our lawns this year.

THIS COMBINED WITH SURFACE DEWPOINTS IN THE MID 50S TO AROUND 60 F AND MIDLEVEL LAPSE RATES 6.5-7 C/KM IS ALREADY RESULTING IN MUCAPE TO AROUND 1000 J/KG. ADDITIONAL DESTABILIZATION TODAY AND FORCING FOR ASCENT SPREADING NNWWD ATTENDANT TO A MIDLEVEL SHORTWAVE TROUGH ROTATING NWD FROM SRN VA WILL AID IN FURTHER TSTM DEVELOPMENT. A FEW STORMS HAVE ALREADY SHOWN SIGNS OF LOW LEVEL ROTATION. GIVEN EFFECTIVE BULK SHEAR 40-45 KT ACROSS THIS REGION TODAY...ORGANIZED STORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH STORM MODES BEING BOTH MULTICELLS AND SUPERCELLS. north pgh
Wow, what a year for hailstorms. I got caught in a heavy thunderstorm with marble sized hail in Forest Hills around noon today. Now I am home and just had a storm pop up and dropped nickel sized hail as it moved just north of me. The storm is just to my north now and looks to be hammering wexford and Pine areas. I have lost track but the hail storms have been crazy this year. I have also picked up another inch of rain in 3 storms today taking my total to over 6 inches thus far for the month. Now since I am typing new storm firing to my south with ctg lightning.
blackngoldrules
The severe stuff has missed me today. Just a lot of showers. I can see some very dark clouds to my north right now. That's probably what is about to hit you shortly.
