north pgh
Just came in.5.5 inches about an hour ago. When I went out it was almost a whiteout and winds were gusting over 30 mph and I was hoping for some lightning. None yet.
Thunderhead
NWS PIT measured 6" at 9:14 p.m. Might get another 1-2" before it's done. Not a bad storm at all!

blackngoldrules
Believe it or not, I just went out and measured and I have close to 7 inches now! I've been getting straight snow for just a little over 4 hours now. It's probably 6.5 inches of snow and a half inch of sleet from earlier. Coming down heavily right now. Looks like we have one last burst moving through and then things will quickly wind down.

RitualOfTheTrout
The snow fall rate is just incredible right now. I don't want to go to bed cause I know it will all be over soon. Digger
Why aren't you out plowing?? That would be like trying to clean the house before the kids grow up and go off to college. Makes more sense just to wait it out. I'll be hitting the road in about 30 minutes...

north pgh
The snow fall rate is just incredible right now. I don't want to go to bed cause I know it will all be over soon. I think I might have hangover symptoms after this one! It's funny, I was just shoveling my 6 inches and realized that I was still 16 inches less than what i was shoveling Feb 5th of last year. It puts things in perspective of how big last years storm was. This was nice because it was a heavy amount for such a short time..a rare event for Pittsburgh it seems. There hasn't been a plow in our entire neighborhood tonight. I took a walk and the streets have 6+ inches on them as well.
RitualOfTheTrout
Wonder how the roads will be tomorrow morning given that crews should have at least 6 hours before rush hour with little snow falling? Had this hit about 6 hours later I might have got a day off work to boot.
CoraopolisWx
Had to go outside again, and it was really blowing for awhile. Snow grains started mixing in before I came in, I guess thats the trade offf at times, to get those heavy bursts of snow. Measured 7" total so far. blackngoldrules
So much for screw zone...I just shoveled driveway about 6.5 inches. Yeah, I think we were the winners during this one. A rarity for us lately. We ended up in the perfect spot for this one. Close to the low passing to our south, but not too far south to where the changeover happened too late for us to get anything substantial.

Nice seasonal totals - check Storms where it takes 60 hours to snow 7" - check Slop storms - check Nice quick 8" THUMP - Welcome back Yupp. Very true. I think this storm turned a forgettable winter into a memorable one. It wasn't really that bad it was just missing that nice storm, which we got today. This winter was supposed to be doomed for any snow after December, but the blocking locked in a very long cold stretch, with some decent over performing clippers, and les. Not too bad at all imo. blackngoldrules
What a day this has been. It started out with everybody forecasting about 1-3 in general this morning. Went to 2-5 with a WWA, then 3-6 with a WWA, then 4-7 with a WSW, then 5-8 with a WSW. And what's even funnier is that the current warning is for 10AM and it looks like the snow is going to end by midnight, so they'll probably end up cancelling the warning over night because it'll have already ended. So, I guess the storm was more intense than they initially thought, but at the same time, didn't last as long as they thought.
