ORH_wxman
What an amazing run of the EURO....only real mild day is Sunday and we have 2 more snow storms, after today......you have to be fu**ing kidding me. If climo has any intestinal fortitude what so ever, it won't let that run happen. I wouldn't believe the Euro run until I saw it in person with this snow already on the ground. It would break all the records and put Mar '01 to shame here.

Lol I think climo is exerting it's intestinal fortitude tonight.... since when does a blizzard in Chicago also bring 12"+ snowstorm to SNE as depicted up to this morning? HarveyLeonardFan
This is just an outright mutant of a year......an orphan in Kenya could fart and it would turn into to 4-8", here.....swfe, Miller A, Miller B, Miller Z.....2007, 1995, 1969, 1978, 1993, 2004....did I miss any... He'd fart but I doubt he'd show us his birth certificate.

CoastalWx
Oh of course. I'd never start locking in a snow event when the pattern dictates that it very well could be otherwise. But its nice to keep getting the breaks we need to turn potential disaster events into big gains....this event included...it could have been a monster blizzard for Chicago that tracked up over Organizing Low's fanny and people out there hardly would've known the difference...but for us we had the PV flexing its muscles in Quebec at the right time to keep us cold. Many of the prolific years had some taint storms which is why its hard to break huge records like 40-50" snow depths....but if we are aiming high, then we need breaks like that to continue. I would just love to lock the Euro verbatim right now because I might have a 55-60" snow depth by Feb 15th if it verified, lol. It's like North Conway has come to Boston this year..lol. I do like seeing how guidance has trended away from something ugly over the last few days. Even the GFS seems like it could be interesting, given we still have a week for it. It seems like the PV has been trying to shift that further se over the last few days, but when little spokes of energy come flying off the PV...it could get ugly, that's all I meant. Trend is certainly are friend for now. The streets around here are getting ridiculous. Lots of snow removal on the main streets during the overnight period. The other dangerous thing, is trying to merge onto the highway from the on ramp. You can't see sh*t because of the snow piles. I've seen crews trying to push the snow back so that you can look left or right as you merge, but it's dangerous at times. I hoped for the best as I merged onto 93 today..lol. Logan11
It's snowing good here now and 11 degrees...actually been losing a degree per hour. But lots of mixed reports from NY's southern tier . Mostly sleet and some ZR. BUF has had sleet for a few hours. ROC and SYR snow..... It's like North Conway has come to Boston this year..lol. CoastalWx
Scott, your ORH wind direction fetish is showing up...compared to the other obs around, lol Never fails. weatherwiz
Well according to the 6z RUC soundings I should start as snow and rip for a few hours, then briefly change over to sleet then by 15z looks like some nasty ZR here. Actually looks like it could be kind of gusty too.

Logan11
Hmm I thought the Euro would be an inside runner or something with the GFS such a hugger. I've been too preoccupied with this event to look at the new Euro. Same thing it's done for the last 1.5 months.

Logan11
It seems like they started as a snow/sleet mix to your west in the Mid Hudson Valley...then no new reports from them. In this particular event it makes more sense than normal. Winds turn more with height.

I'm wondering if the heavier echoes will translate over to snow at the onset here while when things lighten up I see more in the way of IP or ZR. CoastalWx
In this particular event it makes more sense than normal. Winds turn more with height. Yeah I think that's part of it for a lot of these events. The other thing more related to BOS I guess, is with the CF. With the CF nearby to the southeast, I think the trough of lower pressure may just be enough to back winds locally. I've seen BOS northerly while BED is northeast. There may be others, but those are a couple anyways.

Mr Torchey
In a brief lull, its mostly ice crystals as if you turned a snow globe upside down outside. Very heavy precip on the doorstep, noticed 925 and 850 cooled slightly last hour, this winter I would not rule out even a few mangled flakes driven by DC over the next couple hours. Dodging a major ice bullet right now.
