CoastalWx
....without it all the .75" W.E 20" snow reports would look odd? Scott what do you make of the RUC? I was hoping for maybe an inch here but it's blasting the warmth so fast there's zero chance.... RUC might be a little too warm, but yeah you may get very little snow imo. DomNH
I'll tell ya all what. Instead of being nervous, I'll just make it snow 10-20" on everybody and all will be good. How's that? Are you God?
vttaconics
Nobody in CT is getting 15:1 ratios..or even 12:1. WTF is going on this year with weenies and ratios?? I think he's at school in ne Vermont.... not CT

MaineJayhawk
Right. The various GYX zone forecast text mentions of "12-18" refer to two-day totals. The graphical maps separate the events, w/Wednesday topping out at around a foot. Splitting hairs perhaps! I know this: It gon' snow here.
dendrite
Do you know when the SUNY MM5 comes out? Should be soon. Has anyone looked at our AMEX wrf yet? I'm going to take a peek at it now.
Clinch Leatherwood
What does the Cape know about ratios? Enough to realize Mt Everest would have a tough time pulling some of the ratios we've seen this year You guys will all do fine up there in bear and moose country. It may warm in the southern part of NH for a time but how much precip is left at that point anyway? Ski resorts are doing the happy dance and Saturday I will be too.... CoastalWx
My folks said it hasn't really stopped snowing in GHG. Still coming down there. Probably a good 7" if not more on the nw side of town.

Clinch Leatherwood
RUC might be a little too warm, but yeah you may get very little snow imo. Thanks. If the RUC gets any warmer this run I may need to put the air conditioners in at lunch tomorrow and get the mower fired up. 2z is coming in warmer than the 1z...which was warmer than the 0z etc. Beachball and mankini weather for Phil and I. dryslot
I blame this awful table. http://www.erh.noaa.gov/box/tables/snowfall-meltwater.html Yes, 10:1 15:1 20:1 etc etc, Good to use for a reference, But once again it gives surface temps
dendrite
Very cold, but it seems to have last run at 12z? Yeah...00z hasn't run yet. And actually it gets the 850 0C line up to the NH/MA border.Just glanced at the total snowfall on it for part 1...looks like it did pretty damn well. DomNH
Yeah...00z hasn't run yet. And actually it gets the 850 0C line up to the NH/MA border. Just glanced at the total snowfall on it for part 1...looks like it did pretty damn well. All I saw was the 15'' spot it put up and figured. And yeah, it missed the big amounts in the Chicopee area, but overall it did well with the heaviest placement.
MaineJayhawk
I may end up being screwed out of a tenth or two of QPF after 18z or so...oh well. Dom - at 18:1 ratios, that tenth or two is heavy heavy opportunity lost.
40/70 Benchmark
I'm gonna ammend my call for tmw to 6-10". Looking over QPF....I just can't envision 11-12", even if I avoided sleet.

bobbutts
LOL reading the central thread and the sleet folk are posting about the blowing and drifting sleet that they've seen 4-6" sleet and some dude posted an 18" drift of SLEET, YUCK! Did see one of them say that the east coasters don't know what a blizzard is really about Guess they need to be on the cape or ack when they're gusting past hurricane force - not this measly 50 kt gust E. Coast only people are used to always having visual reference. the blowing and drifting out in the true flatlands out there is pretty wild.. some areas are totally flat landscapes with no trees and or other landmarks.. whiteouts in that environment are different and disorienting vs. NE

I've been there... they have plenty of visual references lol. it was a pretty weenie comment.. but point made about flat-boring lands out there - I've also visited south bend so I have a good picture of flat expanses of nothingness. I don't really see much in the way of drifts here in the woods, but out on the prairie you can see some pretty amazing things created by wind and snow.
