Of course, you know, some places set single storm snow records and over 400 people were trapped in their cars on Lake Shore Drive.

What we have here, folks, is a classic example of an old weather board standard - "if the storm busted in my backyard it busted everywhere."

Thanks for providing a clinical textbook example, Potter tongue.gif

Your right in General this was a huge storm for most, I was really refering to our area " most of PA" didn't see that big of a storm it was overrated for our area thats all I meant. Sorry for the complaining but jeez, whats it take to get something going for PA. I know I should be thankful for the 3-9" typical events but to me they are just boring, I guess I will have to eventually move to an area that gets 100" + a year :scooter:

y'all waste to much time on him. he is a chronic complainer.

As far as I'm concerned I have every right to complain, my area hasn't seen an above average season regarding snow since 2007 and even that was average. If you haven't gotten mad to the fact that areas all around us have seen 2' + storms roll through but central and northern pa havent seen one since 1993 then you have more patients than me. Lets just see what this next event holds and hope JB's prediction about the rest of FEB torching

I'm sorry for saying "weak" it was a big storm for others but maytown, potter for the last couple years before this one hasn't seen snow for deer season, it gets progressively worse. I'm glad you get excited for the 3-6" events you guys don't average much snow where as we average 80" and haven't recieved that lately, I apologize for acting out but hopefully someone can understand where I'm coming from...END of rant

That's a classic. I would say ole Jimmy was a little excited there. I was waiting for the F bomb.

It def is a classic. Though i'd be lying if i said that i wouldn't react the same way if i was in the middle of a blizzard and had two strikes like that in rapid fashion. That must be an awesome career getting to be the guy that pretty much gets placed in the most ridiculous weather possible.

My initial frustration with you was simply over the "weak" comment, which you apologized for, It's all okay now.

And I do get excited for 3-6 snows...I've had entire winters down here with less than that total. Frankly, so should you...

I have a wife and 4 kids to feed and provide otherwise for. Tons of people are stil out of work, gas prices are going through the roof, etc....I have a lot of things to be really concerned about. How much or how little snow I get is NOT one of them. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but aren't there more important things to get worked up over than an annual snow deficit?

I think it all comes with time. Teens don't think or care much about the real world while they're under their parent's roofs. Maybe that's how it should be, since we have plenty of time afterward (20's and up) to worry about real-life issues.

Yes there are tons of things to get worked up about other than the snow deficit, but concentrating on snow and weather is in outlit to get away from the reality of life, and to be that kid again and when it fails to perform it gets frustrating. Its no different than those that get frustrated over their favorite professional sports team, same scenario different passion. I'm the same way when in weather and sports. It's either superbowl, worldseries or major snowstorm 12"+ or bust. There is no prize for playoff losers...Although I do enjoy the fundamentals of meteorology like storm development just like I appreciate the fundamentals in sports ie. the subtle layup or a sacrifice bunt or running the correct route in football, its all related

Hey now I'm in that catagory of 20's and up and have every real-life issue that you have, except maybe a family, I don't have kids....yet. Anyways back on the weather topic, and enough of these silly games. This weekend storm looks semi-interest, definitely looks promising

Wow, welcome! This is great! I live right in town in Port Matilda; I am really glad someone from up there is posting here.

Please, feel free to contribute just by posting obs.

Guys, I have told you about how several miles up this mountain it can go from an inch to a fair amount of snow, and snowgirl lives on it.

I wonder if there was a fair amount of fog? That might help with the glaze also.

And holy crap, like 2005? I still can see the tree damage up there from that one.

Jamie, you are right. It can be very different several miles up the mountain. Usually more snow and cooler temps.

Last night it was foggy. My husband's civic is still covered in ice. I let my car heat up for 10 minutes this morning and still had to chip the ice off the windshield. I tried to take pictures this morning but it was still a little too dark and too foggy.

It is windy now and it is helping to remove the ice from the trees.

Thank you for the welcome. You guys are such a great group of people in this thread.

awesome! Thank you.

you're welcome. this one below isn't a very good one; however, it was taken early this morning around 7:00 am. It was very foggy and I was standing in the center of the road (Julian Pike/Beaver Road). I usually try to take as many pics as possible because I have to maintain our snowmobile club's website. So any pics are free for the taking.

Driveway is an absolute skating rink....been working on it since I returned from class/work, but it's not working. Being on the side of the mountain hurt us with this one....limbs were down and everything was sagging this morning, hope to get pics up in the next day. Btw...what is everyones thoughts on the Saturday system? Do we have a shot at an inch or two to cover up this mess?
