Epic winter signal continues to beam, part V

Hopefully I can hold on to more snow because this is really cool. I have a climber in my yard that is now almost completely covered. That is 4'!

12z GFS and NAM continue to tick warmer down here and really have me thinking big ice now for some areas.

Our 4km in house model shows the winds staying quite backed even though the 12km NAM-WRF brings winds to like 80 degrees tomorrow AM. Ice ice ice ice ice.

Ryan--are you showing pings up this way tomorrow? I haven't been able to focuson the storm at all but seems like tomorrow's come in warmer?

Looks like it'll rock for a while in any case.

I hope we are both only getting a few pingers mixing in at the height.

What are the chances of prolonged sleet all the way to the VT border??

Hope you guys were hitting up the threat hard on the midday broadcast...could be some major major issues for parts of the state. People have gotten used to the snow. Ice is a whole new beast. I'm hopeful we don't take too hard a hit down here, about 4 miles inland...but I do have enough wood to keep the wood stove running for 48 hours...potentially more if need be. Really wondering how places NW of New Haven fair....Trumbull, Shelton and up through Waterbury and Meriden. They've been in the snow jackpot this year...may be the ice jackpot this go around.

Currently a light glaze down this way.

Models handled the warming poorly IMO. Been the case all winter and probably will be the case Wednesday.

JC on Channel 5 just blinked, saying a lot more mixing. She now has "mostly snow" only on the NH/MA border and north. Snow/sleet along the pike and then the middle finger down here.

It's really racing north. Already over to sleet into North Providence per cameras. Going to have to see some pretty stellar snow growth to overcome the warmth.

Not much change for MBY, maybe up to 11.5" from 11. I've seen 10-12" on maps twice this season, got 8" and 7" from those events.

Current AUG visibility looks to be under 1/2 mile, but the tiny flakes accumulate as -SN, less than 1/4" in the hour it's been snowing at the current rate. Maybe when the column gets moistened the flakes will be nicer.

Seems as we get closer totals go down, Model output for here has been at 1.00" qpf so 10-15" seems resonable for weds here

Will said yesterday he found it useful under 36 hours in..so i was hoping he'd say it has some merit

Its certainly more useful 24h and in...though 24h from 12z is when its thumping tomorrow morning. It still has the sleet rocking to Ray by 18z...but its pretty cold at 12z, so it might have quite a battle to get that far.

I think whatever the Euro does today is the final call. If it stays staus quo from 00z than we all see more snow and less sleet/ice..but if it goes warmer..then we all plan on more sleet/ice after a thump of early AM snow

It's up past Exit 7, just covered 10-20 miles in a few minutes.

JC really hammering mixing now. She said there will be a lot more mixing than snow. By 6 she has it mixing almost up to boston, just about to Bob's house than the southern 1/2 of RI. By 9am she has it mixing thru Boston just about to Worcester, all the way through Kev to just about due north of Hartford where it cuts southwest.By 10am it's ct through boston and she has it as plain rain there (maybe freezing don't know), mixed to Ray, through Will and all of CT. By 1030 it's touching the NH border almost, she's saying about the only place it stays all snow is Rte 2 north.

That's per the graphic.

Sleet and freezing rain is all she's forecasting for about Brainree to Stoughton to NW RI.

Funny she's seen something that's really changed her mind.

How much longer for the snow up this way? BOX is having fits and I'm not sure if Ch 5 radar is hitting out west far enough...

Agreed, I'm getting very concerned and have also stocked up on firewood. Its 19f and I have transitioned to pl/zr. Let the accretion begin!

To be fair, Harvey's all snow 12-20'' zone was always Rt. 2 north.

I've been on the receiving end of about 4' of MM5 snow that turned into about 6" of slop outside of the last run for an event. If the 24-36 hour rule was applying this year this wouldn't be the case.

Note the "slight" shift north from the 0z last night to the 12z today for the forecast centered at 18z today. That's only 18 hours out from the 0z forecast and it sucked. It'll be helpful tonight, it's not worth much right now.
