butterfish55
You think that's snow? heaviest snow of the day right now. Under 1/4 mile for sure. Just perfect right now
sankaty
You have to think there might be some midlevel cooling behind this first wave today..maybe enough to at least start as snow north and sleet south to mitigate a Montreal 1998 disaster If I'm reading the soundings correctly, even the NAM has several inches of snow down here at the start of round two, as the column is all below 0 at 24 hrs. Between 24 and 27hrs, though, there is a wicked midlevel warm punch.
Sey-Mour Snow
WOW GFS is horrible!! major ice storm for most of CT... sleet gets almost everyone in this thread...

Tropopause_Fold
You think that's snow? yeah i think so. doesn't have the appearance of sleet to me. it might just be big fat aggregates giving a better impression than reality...not sure. DavisStraight
WOW! all snow again... temps must be so marginal upstairs... anytime we get a decent radar echo move in, snow comes back i thought we were long past the snow here... I flipped to sleet for a bit and now back to snow

40/70 Benchmark
When to coldest model goes way warm I think that may be the way to go. The NAM starts places south of HFD tomorrow as ZR. That's ugly. Jesus, NAM sleets all the way past the NH border.....UGLY....that would really cut my amounts down.
40/70 Benchmark
GFS has to be overdone. SW got too amped.

DomNH
SW got too amped. I still think I'm ok here and if I ping it'll be as the heaviest stuff shuts off. Ripping S+ right now.
HarveyLeonardFan
Haha I knew I'd see a weenie. But really, We've all been talking 10-15+ for so long, and now I'm looking at 8" of crap. EVERY other storm this year wither performed perfectly, or Overperformed. You must Also know that getting 12" for me is ABSOLUTELY Historic statistics. 15" would be the greatest day of my life. You have to understand the statistics I'm dealing with. Dude, you live in Cumberland...correct?? You're still getting snow. I'm getting nothing but sleet and some light freezing rain. If you're weenieing out now, you'd be having convulsions if you were down here 50 minutes to your south. I've only had 31 inches so far this winter, and the long range trends aren't looking all that hot...I'm guessing you've had close to or over 60. Clinch Leatherwood
GFS is warm too. Yeah at this trend rate it'll make it to the border if not cross. Enjoy todays snow...

weathafella
Jesus, NAM sleets all the way past the NH border.....UGLY....that would really cut my amounts down. I think by the time it gets to your by alot of snow has fallen but yes this would take 18+ off the table. Unless you get 12 today...lol..

We shall see how it plays but it's getting warmer and warmer each run. I think totals are going to have to come down for phase 2 in a lot of SNE. DomNH
It may cool again at the last moment....Will mentioned this may happen. Yeah, this is exactly as he described it. Everyone ties cement blocks and swan dives at 24-30 hours only to see it cool a big at the very last second. I'm not worried.
weatherMA
The 12z gfs gives me .9-1" additional after 6z Wednesday. How much of that do you guys think is snow? Im guessing half or so is sleet...

I still think most n of the pike will be mostly snow....models are prob just reacting to the amed sw, but the high should be able to fight it. TheSnowman
Only Year with 4 12" Storms - 1947-1948. All in December and January btw. 2 12", and 2 15". This Year - 12", 15", 20" Storms. Now do you understand why Another 12" Storm by February 2nd is So so so vital? This only gets to happen once every 10+ Years. And this year as the Best chance to do it. sankaty
I didn't look at soundings..but Ryan said NAM starts south of HFD as zr Here are the soundings for kmmk. To me, this looks like snow (barely) between 21 and 24 (the NAM has .2-.3 qpf by 24), and then really impressive warming and a quick transition to zr by 27. It's all so marginal, that it certainly could start as zr, but I think it technically shows it starting as snow, or at least IP.
