Epic winter signal continues to beam, part V

There's been a few events here I think that started like 5:00 am while it held off till later up your way..timing wise in CT anyway it's been perfect for cancelling.

Snow has lightened back to moderate after a very heavy burst the last hour+

It will be 9 for us if off tomorrow. They took away winter break yesterday. Kids not penalized if family has trip planned and can't cancel but I guess they'll get some homework to bring along.

NAM wants to paint peel many just south of the Pike tomorrow.

IMO it's further north than that. This is the sounding from Rte 2 where it crosses 495.

It's toasty above 850....1000-700 CT's are on the NH border. IMO I think that'll be the ultimate artibiter of where the sleet/snow line is...where it ends up.

Phil it's waivering here between light snow and a mix of graupel and maybe already some FRZA.

NAM is warmer this run, blasts the change to sleet right up to the NH border if not over. It's great that it does have a more prominent redevelopment, blows that it rides right over us.

Wow I'd be flipping mad. What about all the kid vacations? I guess they are just planning on big absenteeism.

Most schools are either cancelling feb or april vacation. Some towns will have their 10th snow day tomorrow lol.

Well it's almost done at 18z. I mean 12z and 15z for those to the south, if you believe the NAM.

Holy QPF on the NAM.

Yeah, now gives northern VT over an 1" of QPF tomorrow alone. I've really liked where this is heading...each run gets a little wetter...we should thump pretty good during the day tomorrow up here, and then it continues snowing lightly all through tomorrow night as the dryslot stays south in central/southern New England.

I remember they canceled and even you thought it was a joke. What a shame. Nothing like going to school in 95 degree wx.

Mod snow (I think, my windows don't have much of a view) here at school/work in Leominster.

Already an early dismissal, they are trying to get busses here earlier... this ride home will stink. Better pee before I go... empty jug in back, check... extra washer fluid, check... snow chains? Phail

All the early dismissals were a horrible decision. Im glad my school was smart enough to cancel. Last night it was obvious this was coming in at 7am, not noon. #5 here today.

Pouring snow here, 2" exactly measured at 9:10am.

My town has an early dismissal half day for all kids nothing like letting them out at the height of the storm#1 11am-12pm. Asinine decision IMO.

We've had 6 days here in Brooklyn. I'm assuming someone who has 9 days had a town where clean up took multiple days.

Portland shut yesterday, the roads are too narrow, saw that inSterling yesterday, bus coming down the road no where for the truck in front of me to go. Snow removal sucks, states broke and it shows worst in rural areas.

Ugly forecast situation...nightmare really.

That sounding...that's right with some of the pounding precip. I'm guessing .4 is falling just as temps approach and nudge over 0c aloft. Huge bust potential. Flies in earlier or if the models continue to warm not good. Hangs tough and forecasts are good. Still looks good per the NAM with a lot falling pre sleet, but wow...

I'm glad this time the conclusion to this story is long decided down here. It's been a catastrophe on the mix/snow lines this year. Glad someone else gets to "enjoy" that agony and try to figure it out in there back yards. Hope it works out better than it has for the cape with the model thermal profiles.

At least you get credit for the day! Smart decision of no school here.

1/2 vis mod snow at 13F

That's unbelievable to me as I grew up in Portland and owned a house there until 2006. For what I was paying in taxes compared to what the town offers, for them not to have the ability to stay on top of this is pretty silly. In Colchester now, I'm STILL paying $1500 less in taxes then I was before I moved; and the taxes on the house I sold almost doubled the year after I sold it.
