weatherwiz
+SN in West Hartford. Better snow growth. Over 2" new. Nice! I hope you'll have a chance to do measuring this event...not sure if I'll be able to do it...I did something to my back last night before going to bed and can barely move. amarshall
Ripping in Southie. I have a feeling the afternoon commute is going to SUCK. Too many people lulled into a sense of security this morning.
DomNH
Looking at the radar out west, we should be able to keep up this intensity for the most part from now until the lull...so I think 6'' is a good bet even up here where we are slightly displaced from the jackpot zone. CT Rain
Looks like 3-6 is a good bet in CT today with a bit more on the Mass border (maybe 7 or 8). Tomorrow is sort of interesting though. GFS and Euro are definitely warmer than the NAM which would imply some additional snow in northern CT tomorrow AM.
mahk_webstah
Intensity ramps up pretty quickly once you moisten. Won't get the nice dendrites until we start getting the good echoes a little later, but a nice steady light snow now. Yes that is exactly what I am seeing now...hoping those good echoes to our w and wsw slide over us. About 1/2 inch so far.
Cold Miser
CT is a joke. 9 days off?? We've had 6 days here in Brooklyn. I'm assuming someone who has 9 days had a town where clean up took multiple days.
radarman
Obviously time sensitive but nice. Ditch the composite..... I was under one of those dark bands in Belchertown and it absolutely ripped. Already 4", no exaggeration. Fluffy, but with a definite icy quality. Flakes getting bigger now. Also, for anyone interested, here is a plot of spectral width I just took from the Umass radar. I'm pointing vertically with the antenna. This is a very effective way to do automated HCA classification and prediction, especially in mixed precip events like 2 weeks ago. You can see the W grow at different levels as the warn air moves in.
powderfreak
SREF is still way wet and the NAM has re-juiced...FWIW. Yeah, that makes two or three runs of the SREFS where they increased QPF up here in NNE and I'm thinking now we might do pretty darn good with this second storm. Tracks the low from Long Island eastward across the SNE coastline. As usual in these SWFE, the primary appears to be stronger than progged a few days ago, and hangs on a bit longer to delay secondary formation. I remember in 07-08 with SWFE after SWFE, it almost always seems to tick north at the last moment as the primary continues to truck northward. We'll miss today's action (only 1-3") but most of the models now have snow lingering up here through Wednesday night. Model QPF keeps coming slowly up for us here in the northern tier. I really liked some of last night's model runs for CNE/NNE... SNE still avoids plain rain and stays frozen or freezing. This way we all get in on some winter weather. Damage In Tolland
CT is a joke. 9 days off?? Well we had the one in November that most didn't .They are cancelling Feb vacation to make up some of the time
Clinch Leatherwood
Which exit 2? Still all snow down here. Rte 3. it's graupel with some snow. Ugly ratios from here on out. 1.5" at exit 2, jackpot seemed to be about exit 3-5. Cars off the road in a few spots, one in the woods right at exit 2. People are idiots, AWD or 4WD doesn't help when you're doing 70 and changing lanes on a snow covered road. warm FTW again. Hoping to hit 2" but expectations are way down, NAM is warmer again Wednesday and IMO Ryan/Matt will be right in the end, these trend warmer a majority of the time. The redevelopment is too weak and too far west/NW to help. 2-4 storm total MBY IMO.
HIPPYVALLEY
It's snowing. 10.4/6 Hmmm, Mike it seems to be ripping SN+ everywhere in Ma. except Franklin Co. Nice steady SN here but nothing outrageous.
CoastalWx
Well we had the one in November that most didn't .They are cancelling Feb vacation to make up some of the time I remember they canceled and even you thought it was a joke. leesun
I got your back up here Paul (no pun intended). I had 2" about 1/2 hr ago, and 1/4 mile visibility since. Nice! powderfreak
I work in the south/east corner near Putnam, not too far from the fairgrounds. I live in Brooklyn though. Ahh cool. Good ol' Woodstock Fair on Labor Day weekend. I bet it looks a little bit different right now, haha. Our place is located right up near the Southbridge, MA town line on Lebanon Hill. snowman21
We've had 6 days here in Brooklyn. I'm assuming someone who has 9 days had a town where clean up took multiple days. Schools are open in Greenwich and Stamford today. Of course it's pretty much changed over to mostly sleet at this point after a few hours of light snow. Damage In Tolland
I remember they canceled and even you thought it was a joke. What a shame. Nothing like going to school in 95 degree wx. There's been a few events here I think that started like 5:00 am while it held off till later up your way..timing wise in CT anyway it's been perfect for cancelling. Snow has lightened back to moderate after a very heavy burst the last hour+

Yeah I think we get 2-4 maybe 3-6 of snow with round 2 and then we pound sleet after that.. zr will stay south thankfully

Tomorrow is sort of interesting though. GFS and Euro are definitely warmer than the NAM which would imply some additional snow in northern CT tomorrow AM. NAM is warmer this run, blasts the change to sleet right up to the NH border if not over. It's great that it does have a more prominent redevelopment, blows that it rides right over us. Well we had the one in November that most didn't .They are cancelling Feb vacation to make up some of the time Wow I'd be flipping mad. What about all the kid vacations? I guess they are just planning on big absenteeism.

weatherMA
Can I just add that I think a lot of schools got caught with their !@#% out today with calling off schools. We did not get notified in Taunton til 7am. Tier I schools start at like 7:15 in the city. Great call morons. They knew this snow was coming for today and they blew it. They are likely hedging themselves for tomorrow, but come on seriously? All the early dismissals were a horrible decision. Im glad my school was smart enough to cancel. Last night it was obvious this was coming in at 7am, not noon. #5 here today. Pouring snow here, 2" exactly measured at 9:10am.
