Most of the precip overnight will be located over Maryland and PA.

North VA will remain dry until sunrise, particularly after sfc temps rise above freezing when the steady rainfall will begin in earnest.

If you live in Maryland or north - Please don't travel tonight - It is going to be one vast ice rink

Not all of NOVA Jeb. I have a very light covering on the ground. Some more still to come. Although I am WAY out west.

What am I missing? Looking at the radar and the 00z Sim NAM radar There really isnt much going on tonight or tomorrow morning. We have some a snow/sleet dusting but most of that has moved NE on the radar and not much developing except off and on stuff N of Rt 70.

Will more develop south of 70? or is there freezing light sleet or drizzle that isnt showing on radar?

What don't you get? Warm air over top of cold air so some light freezing precip beginning between 3 and 5AM for areas north of DC. No big deal, but after last week's debacle, everyone's playing it safe. There's already an inch accumulation of salt on 83 coming out of Baltimore with more truckloads waiting on the shoulders, so I'm sure everyone's ready.

Salt must be cheaper than towing 500 cars. Who knew?

There is light snow and sleet falling in W VA that does not show up on national radar. I suppose some freezing drizzle could develop overnight in N VA but I don't think it'll start til sometime during the day

Cloudy and 27 degrees. Dews are coming up, 22 degrees, 80% humidity.

Just noticed radar showing stronger elements to our north and west, some development SWward of those heavier elements could possibly introduce precip to N VA - will keep you updated

Light snow in Clarksburg with a temp of 25.5F and a DP of 15F. Light ESE winds at 6mph. To say I have a dusting would be generous. My dark blue car is just a shade lighter than dark blue now.

Do you know why we are still getting southerly winds? Ive been watching the wind direction since yesterday and I have yet to see us switching to northern. I checked the mesoscale analysis page @ SPC and we do have a 1034 surface high just north of vermont and New york state with a nice CAD signature and yet no wind to show it. I mean its not like my temps are going up but still it doesnt make sense loll.
