KeenerWx
Yes it was. I was driving down Creasy at the time and it was crawling. Took me 15 minutes to get from Elliot to Armstrong. Complete nightmare.
baroclinic_instability
Looking at snowfall means in 12 hours, I can't ever remember seeing such a large swath of 15+ inches. Even in the big coastals. Yeah it is ridiculous. Hard to bet against the SREF package here. Tossing out the eta--the NMM/ARW/RSM members are in lock-step agreement on this tanking out. Chicago WX
As I just told Hoosier in a PM: My mom just called me and said she watched Jerry Taft on the 6:00 news, and he is "in awe" of this storm. He showed his model forecasted snow totals (27.8" for IKK or something close to that) and my Mom said her jaw hit the floor...never mind the fact I've been telling her that this could approach 2 feet for them. Imagine that, Jerry Taft being "excited".

Do we really think that is probable? And what local tools go into downgrading the data in the computer run (used by the NWS and television meteorologists? Tossing out the eta--the NMM/ARW/RSM members are in lock-step agreement on this tanking out. I made a SREF mean script without the ETA members added so i'm anxious to see how well it does on the next threat...btw got 7.5" so far here.
