nchighcountrywx
Just an FYI that I have heard that americanwx.com is not reachable from some domains this morning. One of them being carolina.rr.com in the Time Warner Cable Charlotte area where it had been working fine Friday - Sunday. Hopefully things will resolve out ok soon on their own. eyewall
From RAH: SEVERE THREAT: DIFFICULT SEVERE WEATHER FCST. WITH A SFC LOW DEEPENING SUB-1000 MB AND TRACKING NORTHEAST ALONG OR JUST WEST OF THE SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS...AND A WARM FRONT SURGING NORTH THROUGH CENTRAL NC LATE TUE MORNING THROUGH EARLY TUE AFTERNOON...EXPECT ALL OF CENTRAL NC TO BE IN THE WARM SECTOR OF A FAIRLY IMPRESSIVE CYCLONE BY EARLY/MID AFTERNOON. FCST SOUNDINGS SHOW PWAT VALUES IN THE 1.25-1.50" RANGE (2-3X NORMAL) ON TUE WITH STRONG/VEERING WIND PROFILES IN THE LOWER LEVELS. IN FACT...THE GFS IS INDICATING A 40-50 KT SOUTHERLY H85 JET ACROSS THE AREA BY 18-21Z. SO...EFFECTIVE BULK SHEAR VALUES SHOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM SUPPORTING A THREAT FOR ORGANIZED STORMS...INCLUDING SUPERCELLS...AND 0-1KM SRH SHOULD BE SUFFICIENT FOR A TORNADO THREAT...PARTICULARLY IN THE WESTERN PIEDMONT 18-21Z TUE ON THE NOSE OF A STRONG LOW LEVEL JET WHERE LOW LEVEL FLOW WILL BE BACKED MORE (CLOSER TO THE SFC LOW). THERMO PROFILES ARE VERY WEAK...WITH MOIST-ADIABATIC LAPSE RATES AND PERVASIVE CLOUD COVER SUGGESTING VERY LITTLE IN THE WAY OF MLCAPE TUE AFT/EVE ASIDE FROM A FEW HUNDRED J/KG OF THE TALL/SKINNY VARIETY. HOWEVER...THIS IS OFTEN THE CASE FOR CENTRAL NC (HIGH SHEAR/LOW CAPE)...AND WE`VE SEEN SEVERE OUTBREAKS IN PREVIOUS NOVEMBERS WITH VERY LITTLE IN THE WAY OF INSTABILITY. SO...THE BIGGEST FACTOR MAY BE THE AMOUNT OF FORCING IN PLACE ACROSS CENTRAL NC. WITH THE H5 WAVE TRACKING THROUGH THE TN/OH VALLEY...THE RELATIVE STRONGEST DYNAMIC FORCING WILL BE IN WESTERN PORTIONS OF THE STATE DURING PEAK HEATING TUE...ALTHOUGH FAIRLY IMPRESSIVE HEIGHT FALLS (60-90 METERS) ARE EXPECTED EVERYWHERE OVERNIGHT AS THE COLD FRONT SWEEPS EAST ACROSS THE AREA. FEEL THAT THERE IS AT LEAST A THREAT FOR AN ISOLD SEVERE STORM TUE AFT/EVE...PRIMARILY IN THE WEST/NW PIEDMONT...WITH AN ISOLD SEVERE THREAT POSSIBLE 00-06Z OVER THE REMAINDER OF THE AREA IN ASSOC/W THE COLD FRONT AND STRONGER HEIGHT FALLS. -VINCENT &&

Brian
There is a major training look on the Atlanta radar, could be some flooding issues with all the leaves clogging the drains. My link
FoothillsNC
There is a major training look on the Atlanta radar, could be some flooding issues with all the leaves clogging the drains. My link looks like you guys are in for a very healthy rain event. The echoes are really lighting up now from aroubt Gainesville back west and southwest, with a training going on as well as the heavy elements. I still think N. Ga from just north of Atlanta to the mtns. will get a big rain from this, almost a month's worth, in the next 2 days. Also, as Eyewall pointed out when the sfc system wraps up just west of the Apps tomorrow, in ne Ga through the Carolinas there will be a low level jet to contend with, so squall line and strong winds could become a factor with a line of severe, possible tornadoes. I'm hoping for atleast an inch of rain here, which would finally move me up to around 31" on the year. Just 6 more weeks to get up to my avg. 49". MotoWeatherman
Looks like the rain is firmly entrenched now. Folks in the ATL benefited from that really heavy line earlier today that was pretty much training from SW to NE right thru ATL. I'm sitting at .23" so far
FoothillsNC
It looks like the best rain axis will set up to my west , no surprise there. The first round of rain will probably die pretty quickly just before reaching here, on all the models, and the second round will be from the frontal passage. maybe I can squeeze some half inch amounts from this anyway, but it will still be painful to watch another great rain event miss me just afew miles to the west and southwest, but after the last couple years I'm used to this. What may make it worse, is just missing a good low-level jet wind event ...there will probably be some shallow cold wedge air here but just to my east, the strong surge or warmer air at the surface will set the opening for the 975 and 950 jet , which is shown to strengthen from around Athens to Columbia to CLT then up the east coast, so the central and eastern Carolinas tomorrow evening could catch a nice squall line, which will probably start to organize just after passing my location by the razors edge , again not suprised. DaculaWeather
Just opened it with FireFox and worked fine but it did load Quicktime plugin. Very nice cam. Thanks! Sorry about the trouble loading it though. It's been a great cam, it's currently running wirelessly but it can also run wired. It has it's own built in webserver and can stream 3 different video streams at once. I added a 16GB micro SD card and it's now acting like a DVR and recording everything. It also has motion detection, can ftp or email images, it does snapshots, and native DDNS support. Highly recommended.
