today's 12z Euro has a good look to it. Split flow with the California/Great Basin storm probably taking the low road, with surface high pressure all over Canada pressing down into the US, with the enormous blocking over southern Greenland. Still too far out but just something to watch. The system coming through day 8 or 9 may have some wintry precip across the Apps into Midatlantic as well. If the 5H look on it could verify, it would just be a matter of time before we have something good to track. Big "if" obviously at 10 days.

Went over 1/2 an inch a few hours ago. Mostly just scattered nothing now. 54 at 3:45. It was a nice gentle, steady rain this morning. I put out 75 lbs of winter rye to help with run off problems and this was just the right kind of rain for it. By next week that grass should be ready to fight off 2+ inches, if it comes. T

It's where all that water that used to fall in the mtns. washed down into Shelby :) It seems around here when I get an inch or two it all falls at once and takes the front of the property and sends it towards the back.

Robert...imagine a wind blowing all the dust from the front of your land down to the back of your land, lol. Sorry..I know it isn't funny to you :) T

It looks like winter finally. The front took what leaves were left last night. The only leaves left are water oaks. We picked up around .4" or so it appears. Currently 44 degrees. My kind of weather.

Yep, this is more like it,, but it looks like it going to warm right back up....

Old man winter has arrived in NC High Country.

23 degrees with stiff winds gusting into the 50mph range. A few light snow showers and ski slopes are blowing snow!

We left Sparta around 4:00 and it was 39 with howling winds. You could really tell the cold air was drilling in. Got back to Randolph County and it was 55 and calm as could be. I'm sure the CAA will be here soon and probably is already spilling through the foothills. The ground was bone dry up in Alleghaney county. I've had over 3/10's here before leaving this morning and not sure what else fell today.

Avery ridgelines about to drop into the teens:

Avery is the windiest, coldest county in NC. Christmas Tree country too. On my trips to ASU I'd stop in Newland just because I like the town so much. As much as I like the active weather there, it's just too harsh for me in the Winter with all those cloudy, cold days and never ending wind. Great place to chase a snowstorm.

Got down to 27 this morning. Riding in last night from CLT to the Whee and the temp dropped 21 degrees. 59 when I left CLT around 5:15pm and 38 when I got home around 8:15pm. I know the sun setting helped but man I loved watching the thermometer drop while driving; mainly due to the front passing through. Looking forward to seeing some high elevation snow this week!
