I agree with your thinking on Epic Cold. Well maybe not Epic but I agree. Anything -20 below normal is going to be awesome cold. We had some great cold snaps last winter.

btw, the disco is great in here today folks. Nice to have something to talk about. OR disagree about.

Bring it on....

Let me add my opinion here. 40's for highs in Atlanta with sunny skies is cold for this time of year. What I consider epic for November would be -20 degree departures and lower. Normal highs and lows for Charlotte for the last week in November is around 59/39. So, 39/19 would be truly cold for that period. By the way, the record low max and minimum for the 28th are only 39/20 respectively.

Of course the famous November 1950 arctic outbreak was around that timeframe and we witnessed sub-freezing high temps but that was short-lived.

lol I just feel bad that my call was that trusted! arrowheadsmiley.png but yea I agree as well if it's in the 40's around Thanksgiving that is cold! Of course I'll love...laying around the house getting paid to watch the fireplace warm up!

Now accuweather has highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s. (Atlanta)..big deal....:bag:

Don't get so discouraged so fast, Brian...this happens to most when they first get on these forums, the more you read around the forums the more you'll find that almost nothing verifies until the snow or cold is already here. When we get 5 days out and it still shows the cold air, you can get excited...I saw flurries for 3 days on tons of 15-day forecast sites two days ago, and today all I see is sunshine. Accuweather, myforecast, etc are not to be trusted...it's hard enough to forecast things 5, or even 3 days out. If only we had a 15-day site that was 100% accurate, we wouldn't need models to know them temp/qpf.

I found that language offensive...If you are not going to be helpful, please don't reply to my messages.

You can go over to OT and read all about it. Basically Marcus changed his mind and now wants to continue Eastern after he shut it down and forced everyone to leave. Considering how much folks just invested in this I doubt anyone will be over there.

With all the hard work the staff put into this one, and the fact the other was jerked down with like NO warning, i plan to stay here (unless every else leaves then i guess i will play follow the crowd lol)

Side note, anyone know why when i quote it's putting the HTML tags in it? I am using an iPad so maybe that has something to do with it?

Yea I would think that the iPad isn't recognizing the format or something. I saw where Wow had mentioned setting it up to work on the iPad. I'm not going back to Eastern that's for sure.

I am not a naysayer at all, if anything I am the complete opposite. Plus I am probably quite a bit older than most of you,(50). I have been disappointed more than you all have in combined years. Just saying the extended outlook keeps getting warmer, and don't understand why, due to the negative AO, and NAO????

Thanks...that's basically what I was wondering.

Here let me link you to a few of many threads about EUSWX on THIS BOARD.

Marcus reopens Eastern

Thank you Marcus

When did Eastern open back up for posting

Thanks for the links...I tried to find something of this nature, just was not looking in the right place I guess.

I'm not in middle school but I'm fairly young...and I can't say having constant access to a weather nerd's dream (forums and model runs) has helped me much in the schoolwork and popularity departments. Nothing like standing up your friends on a weekend to track weather.

Hey, you sound like a good kid. Do what your heart tells you to do, plus you are a lot safer from all the evils around now. Believe me, I am no saint, but growing up today is totally different from when I was your age.

I guess i should rephrase....i meant from middle school on  We'd have to listen to NOAA radio to hear them describe what the radar showed like once an hour lol. None of my friends or family were wx freaks like me...but with the internet i mow realize there are other pool souls sucked into the world of weenism. In the 70s and 80s there were some freaking awesome wx events that would have been a blast to follow. Instead of having an ear stuck to the radio i could have been surfing all over the place :bike:

I can imagine 3/93 on here...absolute insanity. It's too bad the internet really took off just a few years too late.

Either way we're lucky to have access to this sort of place now, with a ridiculous amount of data at our fingertips.

I was all TWC until I found WWBB in 2000. That is scary.

LOL,,That is hilarious going down memory road, I remember the hourly report too.

1973 is a year I will never forget here in Atlanta, I was 14 and it was the worst Ice storm ever, no power for almost 10 days, no water, , it was below freezing for 96 hours, and I believe it was a La Nina winter as well. It was the most amazing sight, I will never forget it, then a month later is when middle GA had 2 feet of snow, ATL got some flurries, but was still cleaning up all the debris from the ice storm. amazing,,,,,

I just do not get it. But I do not spend alot of time in OT or in other regions sections. But damn, people around here (not the SE) get pissed off. I really who give two craps about the drama.

I will follow the group, the SE group that is..

Has anyone heard from Lookout lately?

Back to weather :)

I agree....already thought about how much fun it would have been to follow all the snows I had growing up in the 80's.... Dude ...watch the typing  ..Must be the touch screen...tricky little boogers aren't they......I think I would have definitely been a meteorologist instead of a teacher. I could handle all the boo's when I busted a forecast much better than this no-child-left-behind- red -tape- document -every- time -you --sneeze- dog- and -pony -show I do everyday...AHHHH....that felt better.

He was in a pretty heated argument over in OT a little while ago, so he's around. Kinda surprised he isn't posting here though, I can't exactly blame him-the weather's pretty boring right now.

Board fried! Computers melted! Panic!

You got it. I'd enjoy the hysteria on the board almost as much as the storm itself

Lookout is around, seen him in OT yesterday... I think he still is anonymous so you won't see him in a thread, or on the board, only his posts. I am not one for drama either, but the fact Marcus has ignored input from those around him for the past several years, those who helped make Eastern what is "was," speaks volumes to me. One person in absolute control usually results in a bad outcome and that is what happened over there. The staff saw what was coming and did what was best for the community, period. That in my opinion garners respect and confidence that this is our community's place going foreword, and for the most part everyone agrees.

I just started college this year and can't even tell you how many times I pull up weather stuff in class lol. I spend more time looking at it than paying attention to teachers. Luckily in a couple years I'll be down at GA Tech taking classes that require me to look at the weather. :) And as for the popularity department..... I have a facebook group with 160+ members called the Tyler Penland Weather Service lol. Most people call me "the weatherman." lol And I won a talent show and had lead in senior play so that helped. Some. lol Oh crap. Must stop bragging and being an #%@. Back to weather.

Had a benefit concert at the school tonight. Cold as crap after standing there for a couple hours. Get home and the temp is a whopping 49.7. Standing on that field felt like it was freezing.

<br /><br />Lol that was the storm that i think turned me into the weenie I am today.  I was 6 but remember it well, as well as when the tree crashed into our house and the power went out. It was simply an amazing storm, and the after effects lasted days

Lol...not sure it's the young per se, but rather the auto spell on my iPad (although not that i do that much better on my laptop). Sometimes if i type it close, it will change to what it jinks it should be and not what I was actually trying to type (this is perfect example as i am still getting used to it. I was trying to type 'typing' but guess it thought i was typing 'young')

Just to prevent confusion, 1972-3 was a strong El Nino winter rather than La Nina:
