I know Woonsocket, RI got 42" in the blizz of 78. I lived near the airport at the time and remember seeing the snow removal equipment, etc. being flown in - it sure was something.

People are talking about 1717 snow depths. In 1978 we had a huge storm in late January then the blizzard at the end of the first week of Feb. The snowdepths must have been incrediable after the blizzard.

Calcium chloride (ice melt) did the trick for us today - can't remember who posted that tip on here - and you can still find it here in the stores.

I need to clean the snow first plus we have 30 inches on the ground you have like 15. Barry helped me today, he is totally impressed with the snow, we took a weenie ride around, some sick icicles and depths.

I picture vim toot on the tug in the Hudson.....posting as he nears a large object in front of him.....

I was waiting for that!

We are high and dry in a shipyard here in Hottentottenville, NY.

My powerful tugboat proved a lesser match to the treacherous floes of the frozen Hudson.

Hull damage aft of the port wheel is being repaired.

I am a prudent mariner, Weathafella.

Vim Toot!

Steve, I was talking about HFD... not BDL and saying that with the coldest model so close to sleet I don't feel that good. Especially given obvious problems with poor dendritic growth.

Ten four seemed cold to me Thank you, I forget about BDL and HFD. always think they are the same, grew up going to Hartford airport so my mind thinks that.

We'll, to get '69 you would need to be at the 36-40" area simliar to post Blizzard of 1978 at 37" not 30" 30" resulted from the Big Snow of 1969, resulting in 36-40" on ground here in Wilmington locally. After the Infamous Blizzard of 1978 32" came down on top of a 5" base resulting in 37" total on ground. At this stage we would need about 15-20" by Saturday to be around those levels. Again, we'll see.

No, the depth was 30" after the blizz of '78 in Reading....I checked the COOP. Feb 1969 peaked at 40" and is the record.

Gene, remember that there was a torch betwn the Jan event and the Feb blizz in 1978.

I think we had a cutter between the two storms and a lot of the Jan snow got wiped out

Verbatim it's probably all snow... but given that the NAM is by itself (though the GFS has cooled) I'm still not thinking big snow yet.

These model runs are probably a good thing since we may be going from a ZR solution to a PL solution. IMO that's boring but most homeowners probably disagree.

I wish there was some sort of guidance product that came out now. It's like there are 100+ people in a room and nobody has anything new or interesting to say.

Boring is good, power is good, sleet makes great skiing too. Took a run out back, tough stuff but lots of mini fun.

Mayor of New Haven walking and talking like he has a case of budgetary anal cherries. Big problems in New Haven could get a lot worse. The roads are terrible there right now.

I drove through West Haven last night and I thought all things considered...the roads were in great shape. Never in my life have I seen as much snow in SNE...including Worcester.
