Epic winter signal continues to beam, part III

Typhoon Tip

Of course you do LOL, wow. You guys remember when Matt N said last week that this would be the biggest storm of the winter and many laughed, hmmmmm As is typical for these events QPF ramps up not down like the typical coastal, been there done this.

Even going beyond the QPF aspect of this, just take a look at the setup and what we have to work with, incredible jet dynamics, a boatload of moisture to work with...a GREAT gulf connection plus Atlantic, incredible lift...this is going to be HUGE. Just need to work on this precip type crap for some.

Mayor of New Haven walking and talking like he has a case of budgetary anal cherries. Big problems in New Haven could get a lot worse. The roads are terrible there right now.

We are calling the Selectman tomorrow, actually need front end loaders for the street corners here, crazy bad intersections. Not being a weenie here but an experienced EM person, if we get full brunt feet plus, time for CT to get some assistance IE National Guard snow removal trucks etc especially in NCT. Hard to imagine 12-18 and no where to put it.

I am not buying into that rain, snow mix to snow scenerio for Plymouth County.....I am thinking Barry B is a bit low for totals south and southwest of Boston....he blew it on the last storm and I believe he is trying to play catch up or make up for the last busted forecast.. imo....

Kind of a low blow impugning Barry's integrity. Barry has one thing he wants, a correct verification. His forecast is based on what he thinks will happen. As of this moment, it is totally reasonable.

Well, I'm not ready to expect over 20" of snow, which is what I would nned to get to beat the Jan 12 event.....I think Dom has a batter shot at 18", but 1' is a good bet imby.

wait is anyone calling 12-18 NCT right now? That would literally be disastrous...im gonna take some pictures on campus tomorrow. They're putting all the snow from campus in one parking lot...it's immense haha

I think he was referring to size and scope of impact, that being said if you break 20 I would not in the least be surprised.

If the 18z runs are the trend...you will be

Man, just looked at the 18z GFS.....I know where WHDH got it's map from.

I was wondering why they jackpotted the CT river valley, but I stopped wondering when I saw the GFS qpf map. lol

Yea, the trend is colder and that was exected, but I'm not ready to buy n CT staying all snow.

No but there is the potential especially NW and Kevs area. Nowcast situation for tight gradients. Frontrunner is good for a 4-6er

An event like this, where no one should get fooked by subsidence, is my best shot.

Looking at the 18z NAM BUFKIT soundings even if the super cold setup verifies it's still pretty close to sleet at HFD (warm from 725mb to 825mb) with 850mb temperatures quite a bit colder than in the layer above that.

Also poor dedritic growth with warm mid levels. 700 mb temp at height of storm is -2c!

That to me screams sleet when even the coldest possible solution is tenuous.

You think NH is bad you should come take a ride around Waterbury. There are roads that are still not plowed and impassible. People never cleaned the street in front of their homes and still think they can park on the street. This is the worst I've ever seen it. And we get to look forward to this week. And it's only the middle of winter!
