jdt
Anyone in NW NJ, how bad is it up there? I work in Mt Arlington and was just curious. They closed my office for the day. Keith O
Same thing in Andover, sleet until between 5-6 before period of freezing rain with light glaze. Temp peaked around 31 at about 8AM but has now dropped backed to 29. Looking at my weather station data we hung around 21-22 most of the night and than around 5AM shot up to 29 in about 15 minutes which was accompanied by some winds gust over 30. Looks like that burst of wind mixed the warm air down which was pretty cool to see in the data. Working from home so have no idea how roads are up here and kids of course are off again. _AR_
We were saved by the sleet up here. Everything has ice on it, but no where near devastating. Power hasn't blinked once (knock on wood). Lehigh University is closed today. Must be pretty bad.
Boreal
Bangor, PA -- 9:30 AM 31.6° 1/4" Glaze Turned out to be a fairly routine ice storm in this area. No tree damage evident at this point and the power is on.
NortheastPAWx
Looks like I had about 3/4" of sleet and then maybe 1/4-1/3" ice. A lot of trees are slacking and the snowpack is almost unbreakable under a thick layer of ice. 31.4*F It will be interesting to see temps later on. RkTec
34 degrees PPL doesn't expect to have the electric restored here until Thursday at the earliest. The amount of ice accrual on wires & trees combined with cold temps and wind tonight, I won't be surprised if it takes them longer than that. Voyager
A balmy 38.1 here in the coal country this afternoon. It feels nice, but it sure did make a mess of everything with the melting. Every street has standing water somewhere on it and all of it is going to freeze solid tonight when the temps plummet.

My dear posters, this is what NJ will look like if we get a 2 -4 inch rain on the current snowpack. The video is from Australia but it looks amazingly like our region. http://www.youtube.com/swf/l.swf?video_id=kYUpkPTcqPY

Pohopoco
This "Ice" part of the passing system went about as well as could've imagined...the .2/.3 at most of Fr.Rain that was plastered on is mainly gone...at about 3:00 to 4:00 or so the temp. jumped to 33.5,the sun came out the wind came up...Result:The persistent fog and about 80% of the Ice were gone in a hurry...Now,temp is back down to 31.8 w/some flurries in the air... Boreal
Bangor, PA 31.5° Re-freeze is commencing. Can't recall the last time that we've had so many snow on snow events (albeit many were minor). Our 1 foot plus base here in Bangor is comprised of at least 5 or 6 separate significant winter events. Anyone track this sort of thing?
