Great storm, especially for those in the RIC area. Here is what I recorded in my log book for the storm:

1/30/2010: Began very early in the morning as snow. Temperatures were very cold throughout the event, averaging around 19*F. Precipitation remained as snow through the end of the event. Storm total was 13.3"

It was one of the coldest storms of recent memory, probably the coldest snowstorm since PDII. The temp was in the upper teens throughout most of the storm with a wind chill a few degrees above 0.

And yet, I still spent most of the day outside, walking around DC, and didn't feel that cold.

We got about 6" from this storm.

Nice fun storm. Prelude to the menacing monster

This was one of those storms where the modeled QPF kept increasing each run from like 36 hours out and people on here complained about LWX "playing catch up throughout the event."

This was the first of four WSW criteria events in a span of 11-12 days since we also had the 4-6" event on February 2nd/3rd that often gets forgotten about because of the two HECS that followed.

We had just a couple inches forecasted in my area (25 miles NW of DC), and my parents in lower southern MD were expecting 8-10" so I drove down that morning during the storm (got a little hairy for a while on I-270 and the Beltway). Ended up at 7.5" at their house and back home we got 7" -- an almost three-hour harrowing drive for a half inch LOL!

What an incredible winter last year was.

Some terrible forecasts with that one. Ended up with six inches of fluff. Kicked off an amazing stretch.

Very much so. I distinctly remember the day before with one to two inches forecast for my area. Then the next morning Nowcasting obviously led to a WWA for 2-4 inches. Then b y the height of the storm (just in time...) a WSW was posted for something like 4-8. I love when that happens, It's almost as good as a blizzard.
