Tony,

Wow, what a hill!

Per the airport records, KATL got 2.7" of S/IP on 2/15/1958 from 0.63" of liquid equivalent. This was the heaviest S/IP of the late 1950's. Could this have been the nice 1958-9 IP to which you're referring?

Also, there was 0.93" liquid producing 1" of S/IP on 12/13/1958. Could this have been the one?

I have some family photos (slides) of one of those 1958 storms. I will try and post them a little later. It was all snow up in Cherokee county judging from the pictures.

Wow great pics for 1958!

Thanks. We found an old box full of slides from the 50s through the early 80s. My mother spent months converting them to jpegs and cleaning them up. There were all sorts of winter pictures in there including some from the 73 ice storm. On a local note we found a picture of my great uncle hanging out next to Allatoona dam before the lake was flooded. I've got some pictures at the house from 1988 that I've been meaning to scan as well.

Pretty impressive undertaking, I just hate scanning pictures and doing clean up so your Mom must be pretty savvy now on digital conversion

It's sad that my mother is more proficient at something computer related than me. I'll have to use a bunch of technical jargon next time I see her to put her in her place. Maybe bring up flux capaciters or something.

I hate saving lots of drawings in pdf for to send them in email so people can open them. What's even worse is by boss is not very computer savvy and I have use an older computer and he thinks a lot of this should be done in 5 min

Monthly forecast by brick. Classic! How does the western part of the state do in Feb?

I was wondering the same thing. First thing we have to do for the doubting Thomas's is get the cold air back in here. I think people are thinking its all over with now. (and the coldest air of the season could arrive next week).

We have a guy in our office still using Windows 98. Beat that. I see you pdf drawings. Are you in the construction field by chance?

2) KSAV based on climo back to the 1700's

1"+ of S/IP about once every 13 years. I'd call 1" at SAV good.

2"+ of S/IP about once every 20 years. I'd call 2" at SAV excellent.

4"+ of S/IP about once every 50-75 years. Although, there hasn't been one officially since 3/4/1837 (unofficially, 12/1989 produced ~4-5" on some of the islands and it is possible that the city, itself, got ~4" since the airport got 3.6") there were ~4-5 of them from 1740-1837! I'm assuming this is largely due to a colder climate then, which I feel was probably at least partially sun related. I'd have to call 4"+ at SAV epic.

I meant to say something earlier, but thanks for all the local stuff about Savannah! The board population isn't that dense around here; and it's nice to see stuff about this area. I wish I had enough knowledge to be able to contribute something besides looking out the window...

And did I catch that you have ties to the PTC/F'ville area too?

You're welcome. I have ties to the Dunwoody area.
