I have a contact up there that I went to UNCA with back in the early 90s. I sent him a message so we shall see if he spills any beans to me.

As Jon also posted, this is true for sure. My contact works there and he responded on facebook to me and he does not even know why he left and he installed his personal weather station at his house. Maybe it will be revealed later....

JB's problem wasn't his forecasting. His problem was that he couldn't separate his political opinions from his forecasting and often stuck his nose in subjects he knew nothing about - namely climate science. That's my guess as to what happened.

It's one thing to show up and to do your job. That's what you're expected to do. But you can't be completely professional in a field like this and keep butting heads with people because they disagree with you politically.

Well then he can join the vast majority of "Climate Scientists" who also know very little about Climate, they just think they do or at least their models do.

I told you if we didn't see snow here with that system the last week of January that we were done as far as snow around here. This past winter stunk as a whole. It was nice to get a couple of good snows in December, but most of winter was a waste of cold air. I can't wait for temps to stay in the 70s.

Looks like we have found JB's replacement! Next time you say it, I'm believing it! :arrowhead::rolleyes::thumbsdown::gun_bandana::devilsmiley:

What exactly is climate science?? Is it the newest name to be given to global warming ?Could it be you just disagre with what he is saying because you fear he is right on the way our weather ,or climate for AGW crowd ,will be for the next 20 to 30 years? I really feel for all thoughs that have bought into the global warming idea .JB expains in detail about how the cold and warm PDO and AMO and how they control our weather but that to hard for some to understand or it doesn't go along with thier agenda. It must be sad to feel everything we do causes the earth's temps and preciptation to be one way or another. This used to be a free country but not anymore with people who feel they have to control what others do and they way they think. We must use a certain type of light bulb .No more grilling out. Cut the heat down in winter and the air up in summer.Sound a lot like socialism .

You know you may really want to consider moving. Say north of the 66th parallel. Yes that should be sufficient for you. wink.gif

I'm glad he called alot of quote" Climate Science Experts" on the carpet. Namely the main mouth piece. I thought he was very professional and presented his opinions with science based facts. His LR forecasting like everyone else was inconsistent, but he was right on que in the arena of debate over climate science.

San Francisco has a special weather statement out. The city itself could see its first snowfall in decades on Friday night. Pretty cool.

Yeah I've been following this too. I got a laugh out of one of the zone forecasts yesterday that said "snow level 100 feet". I've never heard or seen a zone forecast mention such snow levels so low. This is a really cold and strong upper level low to be sure with -10c 850m temps into extreme northern caolifornia which is pretty cool to see too.

Also, check out alaska. More than half of the state is under a winter storm warning or blizzard warning...not sure if I have ever seen that before either. When you think about how large alaska is, that is pretty incredible.

Speaking of incredible, this is. Note the bold..they don't say "near zero visibility" which is what they normally say with blizzards. But this one states boldly "zero visibility"..which again is pretty remarkable. Their windchills are too..can't imagine what 20 below with 45mph winds and -65 windchills would feel like

I don't like begrudging other peoples snow but for some reason it always irks me when Seattle, Portland, etc... get some while we are not. Maybe I subconsciously know that when they are cold enough we are usually under a heat ridge. That said San Francisco would be a big deal so I hope they get some.

Is it even legal for snow to fall in san Fran?
