ravensrule
Yes JYO...nothing on Tuesday all of it on Wednesday so I am skeptical of the temps. We shall see if the 0Z runs start showing the temps even a little colder i will then start believing it alot more.

The only reason i do not want that is then JI will not leave the board forever. There always comes a time you have to take one for the team . mitchnick
NAM must be right as it redevelops the low to our ENE and seems to keep Boston below 0 at 850.....yeah, that's the answer
Ellinwood
The 18Z nam is quite a bit colder out towards Frederick, md than the previous run and would support freezing rain Wed morning which would be a mess since that when the heavier precipitation will be falling. even rockville looks like they would be below freezing at the surface. Here's the nam sounding for frederick. Any colder on that sounding and you'll be looking at sleet instead of freezing rain

I don't want ice to be honest; if it means 50+, so be it but you can have all the ice you want, don't get me wrong

Ji
For areas around Frederick and Baltimore and north I could see significant icing. DC and south will have a harder time keeping the SFC cold enough for significant accumulations. You mean from loudoun north.
ravensrule
Well the GFS is colder than the 12Z so that is a start.
aldie 22
GFS laughs at the NAM and says enjoy some semi frozen drizzle then your moderate rain
mitchnick
both NAM and GFS are now redeveloping the Low further south and keeping Boston seemingly all snow what a winter, what a winter
PhineasC
Another 20 inches for SNE. All of our begging for colder has just given SNE another MECS, yet again. Bravo!

Bravo! that vortex in Canada is further south, but not far enough for us well, they're getting to a point where its going from epic to a National Guard type winter

mitchnick
It is coming further south have no fear. it will never make it far enough for us to be mainly snow and the chances of remaining mostly sleet are remote as well, and would take either but that leaves the coldest solution for us as zr, and like I said earlier, I want no parts of that

Ellinwood
You mean from loudoun north. Forecasting != modelcasting ... yeah it'll be a bit further south than Frederick, but Loudoun's starting to push it. that looks familiar.....Ellinwood? [500mb] Not really anything to add at this point... just waiting for us to get a few days closer now Aside from the later trends, I don't think we'll see any significant changes with this storm over the next couple of days. EDIT: This should be in the weekend discussion thread

Winterson
Northern md is still in this that pv is not going to move out as shown and this will trend colder and south . If anything the pvwill drop south and pump cold airinto the storm

If anything the pvwill drop south and pump cold airinto the storm What exactly are you expecting here? Bottom line, Northern MD has a chance at an inch or 2 of snow followed by maybe .1 of ice before the Heavy Showers come in, if your expecting anything more than that your going to let yourself down. Ellinwood
Can we get a mixed precip map? Depends on how tired I am after my Sunday blog update... if I do it'll be out around 7pm (my bed time )
mitchnick
Hey i liked the Mitch from Wed night right after i got 13.5" much better. meh, except for 7 hours on Wednesday, the last 60 days have been a bust in my book I wouldn't want all the snow NE has had because this place couldn't handle it, but I would have loved just 1/2 of it
