Ian
This threat seems colder than the last one at this range. maybe tho we were starting to lock in by about 3 days out. that vort was a little more cooperative overall.
usedtobe
we still have a shot here guys, no point in bailing 100 hours before any event. I like that the Canadian, which usually runs too warm, is close. I'm pretty close to bailing. The northern stream shortwave screws this up. I could see it trending west now that the nao has gone the way of dodo. We need the southern vort to get farther east before it starts lifting to the northeast. Possible but with no neg nao,, it will be tough. At least with last wed storm there still was a semblance of a negative nao though the blocking was much farther east than you'd like. CheesyPoofs
canadian looks mild to me -- not sure i like the 500 -- but i hate those maps The better maps are out on ewall...and yeah, verbatim it is warm http://www.meteo.psu...2z/cmcloop.html I'm getting slammed in Poughkeepsie right now, but I'll be home in HoCo for the weekend...isn't looking good though

stormtracker
This might be the lowest point of our forum this year. This weekend might be lower as we get rained on and Boston gets pummeled.
Fozz
It still boggles my mind all the thing that have to go right to get a snowstorm here. In upstate NY, it just snows. With a +NAO and no block of any kind, in a strong La Nina, it is very difficult to get even a minor 1-3" snowfall, let alone a SECS.
WVclimo
Euro has a 1010 low on Hatteras Saturday 12Z. 850 line runs along Mason-Dixon line, then bends back SW roughly HGR to Elkins.
