40/70 Benchmark
That would be nice. I have a feeling the Pike may delineate those from paint peeling to those with 8"+ perhaps. Hope the euro cools off. I love the CAD signal...that may continue to bode well in the mid levels as we go forward. Sometimes the models turn slightly cooler at 850, once we near the event..or if the low ticks south a hair. However, it still could be a sleet bomb for many. Don't just look at 850 temps. Right....V-Day 2007...

CoastalWx
Go cold is what I was told by a met who is not so old. Cold will win for many at the surface. I'm liking perhaps a "colder" look myself, but it's easy to see many with a lot of IP. If the euro cools again..then I think we know where we're heading. This will be a fun storm. If the euro cools again..then I think we know where we're heading. This will be a fun storm. 2 parter, but for many it may snow the entire time. There could be flakes flying for 48+ hrs from midday Tuesday through Thursday night. Good stuff.
CoastalWx
Change to rain verbatim south of bdl-bos BOS may go 34 and rain for about 2-3 hrs. Otherwise they are cold. BDL is below 32 and likely for spots even south of them in the valley. That sneaky first low will be important in locking in cold air.
OSUmetstud
looks like 3-5" SN here on the front wave and then PL to ZR to SN on the second wave. Probably a significant ice storm verbatim on this run.
BDR
Change to rain verbatim south of bdl-bos 2m temps flirt with 0C for hr 90-93 , meaning an ZR/RA mix for N CT, and RA for S CT. They subsequently crash to subfreezing for all of CT by hr 96.

I believe you will be right, I like seeing that ridge out west trend more amped and oriented more west to east than north-south! A roll over ridge is going to be a lot better for us. Bostonseminole
hour 90 is all rain south of BDL-BOS, no? atleast on the ncep maps its above 0c at the surface and mid levels looks real brief, between 90-96hrs.. and I don't think is rain, maybe sleet.. Ginx snewx
GFS blows hard in the mid levels. First three letters of your post explains all, still insists on minus 20 night for a lot of folks too next night. Someone splain.
Max
Yup, definitely. Especially north of danbury-middletown-putnam I always feel that I-84 serves as a good starting point where north of it you would probably stay frozen while south of it, you would probably changeover. Hopefully I don't have to forecast for Vtrans those days. I need a break. I forecasted for the past 5 out of the past 6 days, so this storm would probably be the most difficult forecast for anyone.
