mattb65
12 NAM is like a Lakes Cutter, lol. Snowstorm for Chicago. Thank god its so cold over New England to begin with. With the energy now over North America, models should be able to get a pretty good handle on this. That first weak low locks in some cold but this thing needs to redevelop soon otherwise it's trouble. This is stronger and a bit slower/further west compared to the 6z run. Tropopause_Fold
nam is a bit ugly south of the pike...looks good though for north of that area and into NE MA/BOS
CoastalWx
There is a sneaky warm layer above 800mb that might cause BOS and ORH to ping.
bboughton
Can someone tell me what ping means? There is a sneaky warm layer above 800mb that might cause BOS and ORH to ping.
ORH_wxman
There is a sneaky warm layer above 800mb that might cause BOS and ORH to ping. Yeah it might barely ping...but a foot of snow with slight sleet taint is no slouch. At any rate, I think the tendency might be to come in a bit cooler as we go along. Baroclinic Zone
nam is a bit ugly south of the pike...looks good though for north of that area and into NE MA/BOS Just a bit. Just looking at the soundings now. 4-6" of snow for round 1 before I head above 0C @ 850. Beyond that I see a period of sleet/freezing rain. weatherMA
nam is a bit ugly south of the pike...looks good though for north of that area and into NE MA/BOS Cutting it close here-5-10 miles north of the pike lol. Looks like about .3 from round 1 and maybe 1.1 from round 2 for me. I'll take it even if theres some sleet at the end.
CoastalWx
Can someone tell me what ping means? Sleet, but it's not a very warm layer.

I certainly am not complaining on this run.

Boston-winter08
CAD is so clutch in this scenario IMO, it pushes the LP further south and helps the secondary development b/c of the temp contrast
moneypitmike
Still feeling good for areas near/north of the Trail and above. Hopefully we can get this a little more juiced.
mattb65
Wow that would be a crushing wet heavy pasting in boston, redevelops off jers at 78 and moves ENE - good agreement on that track for this stage of the game. Moves a little close for comfort in BOS at the end of the run but it's heavy heavy so maybe dynamics ftw?

powderfreak
NAM is very nice... if it moves just a bit further north I wouldn't complain. Poor Mica Vim Toot though... come north.

moneypitmike
Looks like 1.2" for you. I know, but the title says "epic". 12z moves the 0* 850 north about 20 miles compared to the 06z run. Brings it precisely along the latitude of the CT/MA border it appears. Hopefully that's a sleet vs. zr signal. Epic power outages in CT.

Well, praying for snow, but have entered sleet as a more realistic backup wish. The trees are already traumatized by the ice storm a couple of weeks ago. OT, I finally posted a bunch of pictures in the epic snow picture thread: http://www.americanw...697#entry395697
