michsnowfreak
January has had only 5 days that have not seen any snowfall here. Its been mostly nickel and dime, but its beautiful and not to mention it keeps the snow fresh looking. Had 18" in January imby. As talk grows of a POTENTIAL massive winter storm in 3-4 days, Im starting to wonder if southern Michigan may be getting in on some epic snow depths of our own! ..... weatherMA
Nice pics . Maybe if you get that storm, you can get up to a 24-30" snowpack which is what I have now. By then though, I may be up to 3' if the storm works out for me.

Yeah i was looking at that pic thread in the new england forum of the epic depths, the pics were awesome, I was so jealous lol. Though as a winter/snowcover lover this has been a good winter for me (only one real thaw, snow on the ground constantly since early Dec with the exception of Jan 1-4). But if we can throw in a huge storm and epic or near epic depths, it will honestly be the perfect winter for me. Not to mention astounding to see the state of the snowpack and its water content in the northern half of the nation. I know parts of NE have 2-3' with 2-4" SWE right now (right now our settled snow depth and SWE is about 7" and 0.7"-0.8").
Voyager
Nice pics. I like how you aren't using flash for the low light/night shots. Outdoor flashed photos in a snowstorm usually look absolutely horrid. Great job!

The 00z Nam looks like you get DEMOLISHED. You may be rivaling the same snowpack as we have here if that panned out.

michsnowfreak
Thanks guys I have my fingers crossed for sure. Its looking like the mix line gets VERY close to me, and while I wouldnt mind a little sleet mixing in briefly, a lot of sleet would be bad. The infamous Chicago Blizzard of Jan 1967 saw DTW get 4" of snow/sleet and a ton of freezing rain while areas as close as Ann Arbor had 18+ inches of snow. This setup is not the same (for one 2m temps MUCH colder now), just using it as reference. SE MI is a climate of frequent snowfall but massive storms are few and far between, so would hate to waste this opportunity with ice or sleet. Since I began measuring imby, here are season totals and biggest storm that season. Winter...total...biggest storm 2010-11: 27.2"...6.3" so far 2009-10: 46.1"...8.0" 2008-09: 64.8"...8.2" 2007-08: 78.2"...10.3" 2006-07: 36.3"...8.5" 2005-06: 41.9"...6.8" 2004-05: 82.1"...11.0" 2003-04: 38.0"...5.9" 2002-03: 69.0"...11.5" 2001-02: 43.1"...9.5" 2000-01: 47.3"...6.4" 1999-00: 29.3"...5.0" 1998-99: 51.6"...12.0" 1997-98: 27.2"...5.0" 1996-97: 35.9"...4.5" 1995-96: 31.3"...7.0"
