ski MRG
MRG is posting that he doesn't celebrate Christmas Wtf? Why would you think that ? moneypitmike
The Christmas tree is what usually gets the spring time yard waste off to a fiery start. Nothing like a Christmas tree as a fire starter. Better yet, toss it on when the fires burning super hot. You'll get a ball of flames 15' into the air. You'll really impress the neighbors! 37.3/

free_man
You would need a victorian mansion with 25 foot ceilings for those trees. Terrible picture, but there's lots of homes like that around here.

Roger
It's that time of year. I imagine Kevin..... Brings back memories from when my daughter was younger. we would go into the woods in back of the house, and we would cut down a Christmas tree that even Charlie Brown would laugh at. WeatherX
Perhaps some pingers and mangled flakes tomorrow afternoon around these here parts? Data is compelling off the GFS/UKM and to a lesser degree the NAM..
moneypitmike
Pretty darn nippy out there (or nipply as Clarke Griswald would say). Was just clearing leaves from the area where I was cutting trees all summer. Seems windier now than at any other point in the day since dawn. Dew point has TANKED. 39.1/8. Curious to see how the hill treats me wrt to the overnight lows and the wind. P/C is calling for 16*. With the wind as it is, I'll wind up at 24.lol
cpickett79
i'd like to get this stupid bowling ball feature to go more east in NNE instead ....curving NE then N thru SE canada.......that way a secondary could at least bury CNE/NNE This pattern sucks.....for snowpack .....should any fall. The constant yo yo of heights is a bit wacked. The constant digging of heights in the West is not very weenie inspiring. hopefully that settles down in the long range. love how the euro extended just keep burying EVERY SINGLE TROUGH INTO THE SW....seems like 12/5 wil be warm storm and so will 12/8. Thank god it's not late december.....right now i'm just mildly annoyed at this AWFUL pattern. How many cutters do we need to have in a row to decide the pattern is awful? 5 more? Cold Miser
Woodstock, Ct. right now: Sunny Breezy 45 Late to the party but, we always get a real tree, cut it down from my neighbor's tree farm. About $30.00 for any tree. My wife also has an artificial tree to hang all of her heavy glass ornaments, and other heavy crap. Just the other day she picked up a 2nd fake tree. We are approaching tree overload. We cut the tree down Sunday after Thanksgiving. She goes nuts decorating the house, but not as crazy as we do for the Mardi Gras party (which you are all invited to). I hung the fake wreaths up last weekend, knowing that it was going to be a crap shoot with temps this weekend. I hang wreaths in each of the nine windows. Photos from last year. Can't find one of the fake tree.

cpickett79
dryslot yes that is what i mean. there is hope....but i'm not betting against a string of cutters until there is a reason to. MPM give me a few hours to get some hard cider in the veins ...i'll do my best. We still got a shot to overperform on the cold this weekend. weatherwiz
Last night/early this morning was probably one of the windiest nights we've had here in quite a while, it wouldn't shock me if we were getting gusts close to 50 mph. I was getting stronger winds during this period than I do with convection

moneypitmike
You guys are pretty much right on - 1780. I had an edge in the guessing as mine's 1799 and looks similar (though we have two 'end' chimneys rather than a center one). How many fireplaces go through that? It's neat the maze-work of flues that run through these old chimneys. We have six going through our two. Temp dropping pretty steadily at this point. No doubt, the "hill brakes" will be applied in about two hours and it will all drain to the valleys. Meanwhile, down to 36.9/6.
