dryslot
We go to a friend's house out in Philipston each year around Dec 7... kill the tree, dress it, get the good meat, and drape it over the fender for the ride home... Do you take it to the tagging station before you bring it home..........
HoarfrostHubb
there was an episode of mythbusters (didn't watch the clip so i don't know if that is what you posted) that essentially disproved the whole xmas lights = tree fire thing. Not sure that the lights could start a fire (maybe the old C9s could get hot enough? but not the common mini lights, and def not the LEDs), but maybe if there is a spark? The vid is just of a "dry" tree vs a fress, watered one

Damage In Tolland
i don't think it's too early...the longer the season, the better, IMO. i've gone the route of the fake tree the last few years (something i swore i would never do) with the baby in the house and we've decorated the day after turkey day. kind of a fun tradition. Yeah I'll never understand the people that get the tree like a week before Christmas and decorate..by then the season is over. MRG I would bet is one of those people. HoarfrostHubb
Do you take it to the tagging station before you bring it home.......... We know a road that circumvents old Mr Warden... I hope we get snow before then... usually have a snowy time about 75% of the time we are there. Sometimes it is snowing at the actual location... One year, we bought a nasty tree here in Hubbardston because they were not selling the trees in Philipston... some drought or something. The tree we got was so prickly we needed gloves to decorate it.

Faux tree here as well. I consider it a money-saving and fire-reducing option. It goes up this weekend as well, along with the outdoor lights. They charge an arm and a leg for a stupid 7' tree. 38 bucks to the place we go in Somers, CT. that includes them taking it down the long, long hill on a tractor and putting it thru the baler and wrapping it so it's easy to move around. Last year i herniated adisc in my back doing this

They charge an arm and a leg for a stupid 7' tree. $25.00 for any size we want... plus we go inside for hot choc and homemade cookies (better stuff for grownups!). They even provide the saw (hand or chain), they pull on a tractor or I can drag it. Very New Englandy Country living ftw
