34.2F here

Wachusett seems to be making at least a little snow. Surprised it is cold enough over there to be doing it.

Good wind overnight. Local Weatherbug recorded 38 mph

Nice to be on a break

Leominster gives you the whole day off? Luxury! Now you can watch the models in leisure rather than during a free period! Actually, you should have each day's lesson shift to meteorology as the models are coming out and the 8th graders can all interpret them and you can post those here. lol

Mohawk district only has a half day.

My son has no school either, but my wife does. Not sure how decisions are made. Lots to do on this day before Thanksgiving.

I wish I could work meteorology into the lessons (we do a little...mostly in pressure, Bernouli, gas laws and such). The way the state has it so tight there is little wiggle room.

That would be neat to do as a special, though! I get to teacvh those now and then. Let's see...Jimmy, you have gym today, Ruthie, you have GFS vs Euro ensemble analysis, Barbara, you have art...

Is your turkey still alive?

Just checking out Billings, Montana ... last three days the high temp has not gotten above 4F. On the 18th the high was 60F, the next day the high was 18F. lol Also, they have had nearly 15" of snow this month.

Extremely impressive for the west. It's almost like a self sustaining or self developing cold. What happens is that the cold is forced south and west at the same time, which then is forced to upslope right into the east side of the Rockies. The upslope factor causes the air to cool even more. We actually see this many times in the North Carolina interior in cold air damming situations. The upslope component cools the air a few degrees more.

Pretty ridiculous. Wind chill values of -35F in the forecast to boot. Good grief.

You can do it as a "pre-storm" study.

Turkey was done in Sunday morning.

as we thought last week, it only gets better the first week of Dec, game on, analogs today are bunching around 2005

I hope.

It's pretty typical for me to go to Williamstown at T-Giving and have frozen precip (and non-frozen turkey). Many times, it's followed by something frozen in eastern New England a week or so later. Just gonna hope for the best.
