Yah I know that retail, fast food, motels etc. strip in Oneonta well. I'm sure there are much better deals than Cooperstown. That area had one dinky mall, a McDonalds, a HoJO's and not much else years ago and route 7 was the only road down to BGM.... Now they built it out with every chain place it seems. It's a good stop off spot when I head to southwest NY to visit relatives.

Cant really call that a mall anymore tongue.gif

Brooks BBQ is a great stop too.

most likely it is due to cloudiness i imagine

defintely will be adjusting my forecast

its wild out in the midwest!

Well start writing. I got to go to bed. Lol

I'm heading to work 30 minutes earlier. Not taking any chances. These are the days i miss my university days when I spent the whole day in storm mode watching the radar, snow falling, driving around the city, and going on easternus.

MIXING WITH

IP/ZR FOR OUR FAR SOUTHERN AREAS LOOKS TO OCCUR AT SOME POINT LATE

TONIGHT...PROB JUST PRIOR TO SUNRISE. THE BIG QUESTION WILL BE HOW

FAR NORTH IT GETS. FOR NOW...WILL CONTINUE WITH CURRENT FORECAST

OF JUST A CHC OF IP FOR THE CAPITAL REGION BY LATE MORNING. NO

OTHER CHANGES TO THE FORECAST...AND PREVIOUS FORECAST DISCUSSIONS

ARE BELOW...

BTW, I knew that Oneonta was a great spot for round 1-- so that did pay off-- esp knowing the risks with round 2. I got burned really bad on a chase back in 08 in Watertown-- (near Valentines day) Don't remember the exact storm track, but it was ice in VA up to central VA and was supposed to be a foot. We had an inch when i went to sleep at 1 AM and it was RAINING when I woke up at 5 am. Straight rain.

PRECIP HAS STARTED AS A MIX ALREADY ACROSS THE SRN TIER WITH ERIE

ALREADY AT FZRAIN AND DKK/JHW/BFD A MIX. THE AFOREMENTIONED 0C

ISOTHERM PUSHES NORTH RAPIDLY BTWN 06-09Z TO JUST ABOUT A BUF-DSV

LINE...WITH SRN TIER WARMING TO 2-3C. JUST CANNOT SEE SNOW ACROSS

FAR SRN TIER AFTER 06Z AND EVEN SRN ERIE AND WYOMING CO SHOULD GO

OVER TO SLEET/FRZG RAIN AFTER A FEW HOURS. TOUGHEST CALL OF ALL IS

IMMED BUF AREA OVER TO GENESEE CO. PAST EXPERIENCE WITH SUCH DEEP

STORMS MOVING RIGHT UP TOWARD LK ERIE SHOW A RAPID PUSH OF WARM

AIR ALOFT UP ACROSS WESTERN NY...SO FEELING IS THAT SNOW WILL MIX

OR EVEN CHANGE TO SLEET UP INTO BUF AREA AFT ABOUT 5 AM. SHOULD STAY

ALL SNOW NIAG-ORLEANS OVER TO METRO ROCH.

WITH THIS BEING SAID...ADJUSTED SNOWFALL TOTALS WAY DOWN ALONG PA

LINE TO JUST 1-3 INCHES...BUT THERE WILL BE MORE ICING HERE.

HOPEFULLY MUCH OF THIS WILL BE SLEET BUT THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR

0.25 TO 0.5 INCH OF ICE CLOSE TO STATE LINE. WSW WILL NOTE THIS.

SNOWFALL TOTALS WILL INCREASE TO THE NORTH BUT WILL ALSO LOWER

TOTALS TO 3-5 UP INTO SRN ERIE/WYOMING. HIGHEST AMTS WILL BE

ACROSS NIAG-ORLEANS-MONROE WITH A GOOD 8-12...BUT BUF AREA WILL

VARY FROM 4-6 SOUTH TOWNS TO MAYBE 6-9 CITY AND 8-10 NORTH

TOWNS...BUT THIS COULD CHANGE IF WARMER AIR MAKES MORE PROGRESS

THAN EXPECTED. THESE NUMBERS ARE FOR THE MAIN BURST OF PRECIP

THROUGH 8 AM WED.

I can't believe the local CTV is still telling the public that only 10-15cm (4-6") will fall throughout tomorrow. have they not seen the storm? Why, oh why do the Canadian weather outlets always downplay storms. Two days go, TWN was calling for 4-6" in Toronto and Hamilton. Now Hamilton had a blizzard warning. lol

right now, id defintiely bump up ottawa and montreal to 5-9

it could be higher in a few hours lol

snow is defintely going to come in earlier by several hours

the issue will be dryslot....its actually could get quite close to us.....but if we dont, we could end up with a great storm. the clincher for me was watching the MW and then checking our thermometers.....we are cold...and the h7 track, plus the storm is just bulling the PV out of the way which is epic really.....no analogs for this one.

this kind of cold + WAA = :snowman: + no dryslot hopefully =

FWIW, my guess is that Ottawa will likely see 15 cm-25 cm (storm total).

Bust bust bust bust bust can you say bust? Lol I don't even care. Call me a poor sport or spoiled or whatever. This winter has been ridiculous. Don't even go down the road of I should be happy with 4-8" or whatever is forecasted now, I shouldn't, and I'm obviously not LOL. That truly is nothing, especially when you get 40" of LES in 4 days. It will have to suffice though. Was going to stay up and watch this baby, but going to catch up on some sleep now. Hope I wake up with 5" of ICE.

Yes I'm pretty mad, but I will get over it. Spring is almost here. March Madness :weight_lift:

:

Good luck to everyone else, hope everyone cashes in on a solid foot +.

The valuable lesson learned here is that in this neck of the woods you never trust a storm that tracks to your west. A storm tracking into Ohio is bad enough, but you're really screwed when it tracks into Indiana. Nonetheless, this will still be a good storm for many, while I will be enjoying the pinging sounds and then ice. :axe:
