CNYWxGuy
After last night's snowfall... BGM is up to 31.7" for the month of February. This month now ranks as the 5th snowiest February on record breaking the old 5th place record of 31.6" set in February 1993...

Organizing Low
euro brings 2 - 4.5 inches of liquid equivalent qpf across this entire forum for the series of lows along the slow moving baroclinc zone next weekend ottawa blizzard would get smoked with more snow than he ever dreamed possible, about 3 feet with some mixed precip thrown in for fun. GFS and GEM also on board for a massive qpf event somewhere in the neighborhood.

Gorizer
Hey Rick, Looks like you have a "date" issue in your signature. You have March dates for that small event over the weekend instead of February dates. Logan11
Hmmm ok..I'll take a look FWIW here is a nice mesonet obs link: http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/mesowest/gmap.php?zoom=8&extents=40.555548,-74.108276,43.413029,-69.54895&density=1 Mesonet They have the obs from upper Duanesburg that must not be too far from your place. I find that is a good obs for this area generally. Hey Rick, Looks like you have a "date" issue in your signature. ayuud
...WINTER (DEC-FEB) 2010-2011...WESTERN NEW YORK`S METEOROLOGICAL WINTER WAS RELENTLESS. ITS CONSISTENCY WAS ALMOST UNPRECEDENTED AS A BLOCKING PATTERN WHICH SET UP IN THE ARCTIC REMAINED LOCKED IN PLACE THROUGH DECEMBER, JANUARY AND THE FIRST HALF OF FEBRUARY BEFORE FINALLY BREAKING DOWN DURING THE MIDDLE AND LATTER PORTION OF FEBRUARY. THIS KEPT OUR REGION UNDER NEAR CONSTANT COLD WITH ALMOST DAILY LAKE EFFECT SNOWS UNTIL A BREAK IN THE PATTERN ALLOWED FOR MORE SYNOPTIC SNOWFALLS IN FEBRUARY. IT WAS THE COLDEST WINTER IN 8 YEARS AND 4TH COLDEST IN THE LAST 30 YEARS. UNLIKE MOST WINTER SEASONS WHICH SEE THEIR SHARE OF EXTENDED THAWS...ONLY TWO BRIEF THAWS OCCURRED ALL WINTER...BOTH TWO DAY EVENTS (DEC 31-JAN 1 AND FEB 17-18) WHICH FEATURED TEMPERATURES IN THE 50S. THESE THAWS MELTED VIRTUALLY THE ENTIRE SNOWPACK WHICH HAD BUILT UP PRIOR...BUT WERE IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY MORE SNOW AND COLD. AS A RESULT...DAYS BELOW FREEZING AND DAYS WITH SNOWFALL AND SNOW COVER WERE AT NEAR RECORD VALUES...WHILE TOTAL OVERALL SNOWFALL...ALTHOUGH ABOVE NORMAL...WAS NOT OVERLY SO...AND NO REAL MAJOR SNOWFALLS (OVER 8 INCHES) OCCURRED ALL WINTER. HERE ARE SOME STATISTICS FOR THE 3 MONTH WINTER PERIOD FOR BUFFALO... (NORMALS) TEMPERATURE.... 24.0 (26.7) PRECIPITATION.. 7.74 (9.38) SNOWFALL....... 95.9 (69.4) DAYS: AT OR BELOW 32.. 68 (43) ** RECORD ** WITH MEAS SNOW.. 56 (44) WITH SNOW COVER. 86 (57)
Logan11
Nice squall line here also ..probably a quarter inch dusting though it blew away. It has been plummeting ever since and now down to 21F.
