whamcity
Nothing but rain at the beach. 42, but feels much colder. Hoping the snow starts earlier than expected.
D-Money
GFS takes a dump right on HR QPF wise. Wish it was colder.
Portsmouth Weather
Still sitting at 40.8 for the last 45 minutes. Tell you what, the GFS has this area getting pummelled later this evening - from the deformation band I think?....If we change over to snow (even halfway thru) I would think we get signficant accumluation before ending (3 to 4 inches). Both the NAM and GFS now has southside over 1 inch QPF
Coach McGuirk
Temp rising for some reason. @ 39.0 now

WeSuck
The GFS and NAM are beast for precip. Looks like we will be bullseye for deformation band. Close to 1" of precip. NAM is colder and thus a better run for snow. I am still sticking with the NAM as we are now 6-12 hours away
D-Money
Regarding GPF, Chesapeake Weather and I are on the same page. 850 0c is cutting right through southside during the heavy stuff. Would like to so see that further south. These last 2 comments are contradictory! I don't know who to believe!

WeatherNC
Loop the RDU radar in base reflec and note the blossoming over the last 30 minutes between where I am at in Greenville and Fayetteville... Heading north so I would imagine you guys in the tidewater should see some of that as the evening progresses. Later...
Portsmouth Weather
It seems the GFS and NAM have us in the deformation zone, but looking at the last few RUC, it seems to set it up just to our north. It also appears a little warmer (not surprisingly). Will be interesting to see which model is closer to reality.

Martin
(Disclaimer: Image from 2009. Text below current) Just reviewed the latest models. Here's why the weather service and many tv guys are getting it wrong. The temps this evening will fall into the mid 30s. They think it will be mixed prec. because of this...but it's snowing in Williamsburg at 37 during the mid to late afternoon hours. When the heavy prec. arrives, it will drag down the colder air ALL the models are showing just above the ground and cause any mixed prec to quickly change to all snow. The snow will be very heavy and accumulate everywhere fast! I am increasing my storm totals as follows and including the big cities and counties. Roads will quickly become snow-covered by mid evening in most places - Jon Cash Virginia Beach: 3-6" Portsmouth 3-6" Chesapeake 3-6" Norfolk 3-6" Suffolk 4-7" Hampton 3-6" Newport News 4-7" Williamsburg 4-8" Franklin 4-7" Gloucester 4-7" Elizabeth City 2-4" Ahoskie 3-6" Outer Banks 1-3' Eastern Shore 3-6"
