SATURDAY NIGHT HURRICANE CONDITIONS EXPECTED. RAIN AND SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS. RAIN MAY BE HEAVY AT TIMES. NEAR STEADY TEMPERATURE IN THE MID 70S.

**** NORTH WINDS 70 TO 90 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 110 MPH...

BECOMING WEST AND...DIMINISHING TO 45 TO 65 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 80 MPH AFTER MIDNIGHT. CHANCE OF RAIN NEAR 100 PERCENT. ***

NWS CHesapeake/VA Beach border

Saturday Night: Hurricane conditions expected. Rain and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 72. Northwest wind 55 to 75 mph decreasing to between 35 and 40 mph. Winds could gust as high as 105 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between 3 and 4 inches possible.

Hey guys. I am back from State College to work at WAVY-TV for the weekend. So far we only have one "public" report of a tornado in Sandbridge. Not official yet.

Please post some reports as the center nears!

Is J Wheel going to put you on? I hope Slater stays home and Wheel takes it all night long.

Traffic: Authorities close Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel

At 11:40 a.m., the Virginia Department of Transportation was reporting the following traffic issues:

Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel

The span was closed about 11:15 a.m.

Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel

The bridge-tunnel was closed at 11 a.m. because of high winds.

Midtown Tunnel

The tunnel was closed at 10 a.m. because of the risk of flooding.

Downtown Tunnel

The speed at the tunnel has been reduced to 25 mph because of rain and high winds.

In Virginia Beach, the city was reporting the following issues:

First Colonial Road

The road was blocked northbound between Wolfsnare and Republic Roads by low-hanging high-voltage power lines. To access Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital, drivers on Shore Drive should take Great Neck Road to First Colonial Road. Drivers on Virginia Beach Boulevard should take Great Neck Road to Old Donation Parkway.

In Norfolk, the city was reporting the following issues:

Monticello Avenue Underpass

The underpass was flooded. One vehicle was stalled. Crew were working to pump out the water. Drivers should use an alternate route.

Boush Street

The intersection of Boush and Olney Road is closed because of high water.

Thanks. Im running on only a few hours of sleep and they caught me off guard so I wasnt quite sure what to say.

Water is above-knee deep outside the studio... waves are hitting part of the building.:unsure::yikes:

Last I heard was five deaths (3 in NC, 2 in VA) mostly from falling trees.
