DMADKAT
So when do we start biting our nails, when it comes to Irene? If by tomorrow night the models still paint a doomsday track over the sounds of NC to over ORF then buy some nail clippers because we might need them! Billabong
Latest Euro is pretty much our worst-case scenario at this point. A CAT 4 making landfall near Morehead City moving North with Hampton Roads sitting in the right front quadrant. Yikes.

Lady Di
Morning, beautiful couple of days forecast for the outer banks. Do you think there will be voluntary evac ordered anytime soon here? Looks to me like this storm will shorten a lot of folks vacations.

Looks to me like this storm will shorten a lot of folks vacations. they'll wait until Wed night, and probably Thursday, before making a decision I would think I was in Kitty Hawk last week and hated leaving, but now, not so much I'm going back in Sept for 5 days so I'm praying the Hilton, roads, etc. all survive intact enjoy your vacation regardless; there's still time for this thing to turn right and keep the worst of the storm off shore

Wouldn't want to be here in the right front quan. of this one. hey, if you wake up hungry one morning and you're staying in Nags Head to Duck area, do yourself a favor and go to the breakfast buffet at the Hilton in Kitty Hawk in addition to everything they have out at the buffet, they'll make you eggs, omlets, and waffles pretty much any way you want them and the food is really, really good costs around $11/per person I'm not a breakfast buffet person normally, but this one is worth it also, Capt. George's seafood buffet just opened this spring at mile marker 8.5 on the Bypass they have a restaurant in Williamsburg I've gone to for years; we went there last week and it was real good, but a bit pricey at $31 if you want decent pizza, try Slice pizza; great deep dish as well as regular pizza

weathernut85
I'm in Williamsburg for the summer and I'm supposed to be driving home to the Philadelphia area this weekend. I've never experienced a hurricane so I'm tempted to stick around but this storm looks like it will be a major one. However, SE PA has received around 12" of rain this month and Irene will probably cause some major flooding and tree damage up that way too. All this and an earthquake...I'm suddenly on earth science overload!

wolfman23601
I want to see Hampton Roads fail at trying to evacuate people. Sat in traffic today for an hour (not even at rush hour) at the HRBT. Half the reason I moved to Newport News from Norfolk... I can cross the JRB and head West through the farms and country roads to the mountains, then North toward the Pittsburgh area, where my parents have a condo. I would imagine trying to get out of Norfolk, VB, or Chesapeake in event of an evacuation might be a 12 hour event. I don't miss the HRBT one bit... and the Midtown/Downtown/High Rise trio were no better as an alternate.

The girlfriend and I are going to New Orleans this weekend, but if the thing takes dead aim on this area, we'll have to cancel. This is the one time I'm rooting against the weather heading in... Billabong
18Z GFS slightly west. OBX is going to get hammered. No doubt there will be plenty more evacuations down there tomorrow morning/midday. I'll be on my way down from PA this Friday to Virginia Beach. Should be an interesting weekend.
