weathafella
Not in this time range it didn't. I think it had a blizzard for Binghamton and Syracuse. Actually Will I thought that was maybe 24 hours further out. And a couple of days ago they had the blizzard for Cleveland with this upcoming event...lol.. John.....I never said we've been in a 1993-94 pattern. It's just the upcoming modeling. Don't chastise me like I'm an idiot knowing nothing about the differences in teleconnective indices this winter vs that one. But ground truth might well be another issue. CoastalWx
You also don't have 35-40 inches of snow on the ground That's not the whole state. They've been using bulldozers to remove the snow at intersections and on highways here. This is what happens to areas that aren't used to getting more than 14" of snow at once. ORH_wxman
You also don't have 35-40 inches of snow on the ground Pretty close to that actually. I'm sure its less at Funky murphys at 520 feet on Shrewsbury street but if you check out the side streets you'll see. But Scott is probably actually correct in some sense...a lot of areas in CT are not used to plowing a lot of snow. Especially near the south coast. dendrite
If snow numbers have credibility, some places are getting an awful lot this week. I hesitate because of their epic failure in our last 2 major storms. MEX is 4-8-6 up here. Not bad.

weathafella
We know how to plow up here. Side of the road snowbanks gone in Coolidge Corner and Brookline Village. Taken to Snow Mt. I wouldn't mind if they took them from the front of my house but never from the yard!

Yeah our town crews and state overall do very well..but when you have this amount of snow and nowhere to throw it...they had to break out the heavy artillery. I couldn't believe I had 2-3 feet at the end of my driveway when they came by..Of course it had been reduced to one lane until today
ORH_wxman
16 inches...Union had almost 19 That was a bogus CT DOT total...they sometimes have clown totals. Sometimes they are accurate, but I know that one wasn't.

Its true though that the state as a whole has less larger snow removal machinery than MA does. I've talked to a lot of guys down there and one of them was saying how they had to bring some down from north of them to help out.

cpickett79
Yeah it was probably too low, but 19" is too high, they didn't have that much. milford clocked in with 16 or so.....and i would say westborough had roughly the same. but just north of tolland sat in the heavies on radar longer than that weenie band that hit oxford to milford/ westborough. Not that it really matters, its still a lot of snow regardless, but QCing reports is still important for what I do. If everyone just did weenie totals, then climo would be thrown off and so would impact assessment of each storm. I want to know what type of impact a type of storm has and getting accurate numbers is important for that.

I'll ask Paul in North Milford how much he got. I didn't see his report but he's been measuring for years and I trust his. He measured 36" on the level in Franklin in 78.
