Its like they are trying to make up for the torch the past 12 months...starting this month in a big way.

the mean temps in the 3 major quebec stations in janaury (amonaly from mean)

quebec city -10.0C (+2.8C)

montreal -9.6C (+0.6C)

ottawa -10.6C (+0.2C)

obviously we were running above normal, and a lot of the positive janaury anomalies have been wiped out since last weekend.

Well yeah you were still torching in Quebec for the first couple weeks of the month as the NAO block was still there. It really didn't flip until the past week or so.

Winter Carnival starts in Quebec City today and runs through Feb 13th. Brutal.

Been to that 4 times in the last 12 years. Fantastic, especially when snowing. Most romantic city I've ever been in and just a pure place of winter lovin goodness. If any weenie is looking for a romantic getaway that is also snowy, it doesn't get any better.

Great city and only a five hour drive from here. The wife and I went up there the weekend before Thanksgiving and woke up Saturday morning to 4" of snow.

Here's a map I threw together because I am bored and have no life. There is definitely small errors all over the place on it. A cool little map of our climate and area though.

We're getting fairly OT now, but up here I'd extend the foothills toward W NH and call the higher terrain in SW NH the Monadnocks. CON and LCI are not in the Whites. Also...how did CON end up due west of LCI?

ASH and MHT aren't ORH hills either, but a decent map.

ASH is too far west too...they aren't in the ORH hills. IJD isn't either.

The dark green that goes through Con and down to MHT is def. not mountains. I live 15 miles nw of Con and we are far interior I think. It is hilly so you could call us kinda foothills. Con and Mht are technically in the Merrimack Valley and that extends north to Brian's area as well. The elevation dips to 350 around the Merrimack River. I'm at 670ft probably 7 or 8 miles west of the river.

Yeah, I live on a 300' hill and that is "tall" for Nashua. We're not even close.

Unfortunately cannot fix ASH because of the 'E' in interior. Fixed everything else people mentioned so far.

The area's that were obviously not ORH hills were just poorly tagged. That color is meant to intend 'hills'.

Made it a bit more obvious.

I love it. Just gotta hope is doesn't go nuts at 500mb, but I do like seeing those arctic highs...perhaps a bit more to the east, but no complaints.

As long as we keep some confluence locked in north we're ok. If it starts weakening or moving away we'll be in some trouble I think.
