Ji
That's what the central board has called it so might as well ride with it Euro makes a mass south and east shift...OTS..holding energy back Gfs...nice overrunning snow Ggem---snow to ice...it cuts than transfers Unmet-cutter
Inudaw
Why not. This one has solutions over the passed few cycles of OTS .. to a glorified lakes cutter. The eventual solution should be somewhere in that range!

winter_warlock
has the same potential the last storm had, so def something to watch and only 6-7 days out, close enough to watch but still far enough to not hug ever model
baroclinic_instability
I requested we name it the "Hoosier" storm since Hoosier started the thread--and since the PSUHoffman storm was a success--but Hoosier wasn't game. If this storm is a success for the MA and not central/western--JI has to post in central/western for a week--and the posts have to be meteorologically insightful

showmethesnow
NAO doesn't look like it wants to cooperate though. Both the GFS and the Euro have been showing a strong +NAO over the last couple of days worth of runs.

Dr No
NAO doesn't look like it wants to cooperate though. Both the GFS and the Euro have been showing a strong +NAO over the last couple of days worth of runs. That might be OK in this setup - there's a big Arctic air mass heading in behind the clipper- if we had strong blocking it would be congrats Cuba. Need it to retreat some to lift up the coast. But I'm exicited- the setup looks pretty good for overrunning.
clskinsfan
GFS has a 1035 high over the lakes at 120. If that verifies it should be plenty cold.

WxUSAF
Wow...12Z GFS is full of win. Beautiful overrunning. No issue with temps at all...cold air is locked in with that high over NY and that beatiful confluence aloft.
NattyBo
I know it's basically in fantasy land still but that is a fun GFS map to look at the day after a MECS.

NattyBo
Despite what DT would say, Day 6-7 is not fantasy land on the GFS. Well, I won't get my hopes up, but I'll certainly be lurking here more than a healthy amount to see what you and the other red taggers have to say. The input here saved me and my family from being stuck in the commute last night.

aldie 22
We need the overrunning in this scenario since the 500 vort ends up going North of DC post
Riptide
Any other model support? Of course, the event is there in some shape or form on all of the major models. Euro was suppressed and the GGEM had a lakes cutter, not sure about the UKmet and the other rubbish that people care about.
