Kevin W
Amazing here at this moment. Up for the day now after 3 and 1/2 hours sleeping. Heavy snow, blowing snow, wonderful snow! I'm glad I got about 6 hours sleep. It looks like we could get at least a foot. Quite a season, for sure.
Kbosch
Ok here's a technical measuring question for the experts, one I don't know the answer to. In your situation where you have snow banks, mounds and everything else...would you need to measure on the top of them or on a snow board to get an accurate reading? Otherwise, if you measure in the troughs on a cold windy night isn't that going to contaminate high? I've always measured on the high ground, flat surface. Maybe I'm doing it wrong. In fact I think I am doing it wrong because I measured 1.5 where the NWS employee measured (within a few miles) 3.5 today...so I'm pretty sure I'm using an Ocean State Job Lot ruler. That's why I went all over but the shots I took were representative of it. I did it in the middle of the driveway cleared several feet away from the banks, on stuff that was not cleared in the lawn, in the cleared lawn, on a piece of crappy wood in the uncleared end of the driveway, etc. But the pics were easy to take on those surfaces since they were closest to the house and the camera was getting soaking wet. I usually take a bunch of different spots with different placements and average them out. It was surprisingly clustered near 7 even with the wind (outside of drifts directly against said banks and mounds and such). The wind has also died down somewhat from what it was earlier which can only help everything.

Clinch Leatherwood
dryslot...working NW but washing out, lighter echoes pushing NW. Filling in from the east here. That was thunder a minute ago east out over the ocean probably associated with the heavier echoes. First time tonight.

I actually find them to be horrible...they are somtime great and then sometimes they are pathetic. They usually match my Union obs about 50% of the time in reasonable value, which means its a coinflip for me...maybe they are better further south.
