Sunny and Warm
Liquid equivalent in Ewing for the calender day Wednesday was 1.62" of liquid for the 13.2" of snow. Would you agree that the Euro had the storm consistently nearer the coast than the GFS in the medium range, and that within 36 hours, the meso models performed quite well with trends and QPF?? In fact, the mesos are doing quite well this winter with banding features and placement.

Sunny and Warm
Somewhat agree. Some of the mesos cut the precip off too far south with very little up into the Lehigh Valley and northern NJ... from 24-48 hours out, I agree with your meso comment. Inside 24 hours, the very short term mesos performed extremely well to my eye, and found the trend NW. I guess we could separate models nowadays into three groups, the medium/long term (48+), the short term(24-48), and the nearcast (inside 24)

Sunny and Warm
With a ruler. That may be true, but the consistency of snowfall (not uniform as it falls) and the accuracy of the human eye to that degree makes measurement to 1/100th of an inch inaccurate. famartin
Total liquid equivalent for the storm was 1.81" from 15.2" of snow, sleet and freezing rain in Ewing. As expected, ratios were very low with the Wednesday night snowfall... about 10:1 even after midnight (2.0" of snow after midnight melted to 0.19" liquid). No, not true....the vagaries of snowfall measurement are constant. If 3 measurements taken in an open field show a fraction more than a 1/4" (whatever whole number), I think recording as .26 rather than .25" is more accurate. Not that its worth debating. Ralph Wiggum
7" from round 1, 1/4" sleet/fzra during intermission, 12.5" from round 3 for a grand total of: 19.5" Measured on a snowboard in an open field away from structure. Took 4 separate measurements for each "session" in 4 different spots on the board. Total liquid melted was 1.79". This storm is in my top 5 easily due to thunder/lightning and intensity of snowfall. We were topping 2.5" an hour between 9PM and 11PM. Just an insane storm and lots of tree damage outside and piles and piles of snow.
Bluescat1
I had 14.3 unofficially, I may never get my car out. I have 3 ft of snow in my back yard in spots from remnants of 4 storms. My neighbor thought I was crazy when I shoveled the sleet last night, today I had the last laugh.
dryslotted
Some pics from the backyard this morning. Prolonged sleet didn't seem to hurt us too bad, though there has to be upwards of an inch of it beneath the snow. I don't think we fully changed over until about 8:10 or 8:15 or so. The snow line really took it's sweet a** time marching those last few miles east lol. I seriously can't recall ever seeing it sleet that hard. Maybe in the early 90s, but no clear recollection is coming to mind. Heard a rumble of thunder (finally) at 10:44PM last night, right as that epic deform band was pivoting over top of us. It was snowing so hard the flakes seemed not to be able to get out of each others way fast enough. Looks like we are somewhere between 12-13" total from the event, but I haven't measured yet. It looks deeper than that in spots...
Echo
Looks like that here, too. Snow measured a compacted 6 inches here. It was hard to measure because of all the rain and sleet we got. Thought that with the amount we got today my employer, New Castle County, would give us a snow day, but we have a new administration and we get to go in at 10. Nevermind that State offices, State courts, Federal court, and the city of Wilmington all closed down. 31° and cloudy here.

Hurricane Agnes
Wow. This eclipsed the 12/26 storm and I can imagine what it would have been had the ratios been the same as 12/26! Here in Chestnut Hill & nearby Wyndmoor as of 8:15 am: Total 14.5" (compacted total, with first round = 5.5" wet snow + sleet) Current OBS: Mostly cloudy (sun starting to peek out) Temp 31.3 F Winds light out of the W Congrats to the snow weenies for an overproducing couple of storms! Thunder Road
This just goes to show what can happen when our storms tap the Gulf. I'm still in shock. But now I have to go out and clean up all this snow...
