it doesn't get me anywhere now, especially when I was calling for a general 4-8 / 8-12" snow for CT, but Tuesday night I mentioned that banding like Feb 2006 was possible. Not only did it verify, but it was in the same general area and almost more intense! Many reports of 4-5"/hour...

With a general 12-18" across the board and taking into account the prodigious snow rates rarely seen, this should be clasified as a HECS. This is one we'll remember for years to come and one we'll refer back to.

We can chalk it up: Two HECS in a month, how rare is that?

Wouldn't care if I had to go to work..totally worth staying up

I am guessing that I will have a two hour delay at my school tomorrow in Rye but I agree Earthlight, I may be tired for work, but I can't go to sleep until this thing is over!! It has been a day to remember!! Overperforming snow in the morning and some amazing snow rates at night!! Just amazing seeing what mother nature can do!!

NYC .26 last hour, they may be around 34.5 for the month now...might as well go for a 40 inch month at this point!

Our heavy snow is over :( It only lasted 4 hours. Now moderate snow.

BTW if you include the Dec 26 storm, it could be 50 plus inches in 32 days lol.

How in the hell did New Hyde Park have only 3.8 inches at 1145pm?

Speaking for myself, I didn't change over to all snow until 10:45pm. There was at least 1/2 to 3/4" of sleet during the early evening. Since the changeover I've accumulated 8.5" in 3 1/2 hours . Add that to the 3" that fell earlier and I'm just under a foot on the day.

11.5 inches here in Morganville, (Marlboro Township, NJ) Monmouth County as of 01:55am and still coming down. Was about to shut it down for the night when all of a sudden a very large branch from one of my large pine trees on side of house came crashing down and landed on front lawn but it appeared to have hit part of my guter as it is now bent. Couldn't see too good in the dark. Will have to re-asse in morning.
