MJO812
In 2006 after 25+ inches, NYC schools were opened. the next day..so hence the question That happened on a Saturday into Sunday. Have you guys seen or heard plows over the last several hours? I haven't heard or seen any. Pretty strange. Nope Euro gives us two clippers Sat- Sun...overrunning event at 138...coastal scrape at 174..very close to being two storms within 5 days. Trying to give us another one at 220. Henry M says 2 clippers and 2 big storms next week followed by 2 more big storms the following week.

Actually it surprised me how heavy and water logged it was considering the way it's blowing around.
Quincy
Have you guys seen or heard plows over the last several hours? I haven't heard or seen any. Pretty strange. people probably thought it was beginning to wind down. oh boy, people are going to wake up to a HUGE surprise at 5am/6am. My bet is that they cave and close NYC schools. Ababa
Bloomberg will keep them open - and tell people NYC is up and running and everyone should go and see a broadway show. Snow still heavy - just not heaviest I've seen in my life rates like earlier.

Thundersnow12
To who ever reported the 1.5" in 15mins....does it get much better than that?? only thing better would be a slow moving, photogenic tornado doing no damage. you could just sit and watch it pile up...no need for a timelapse. BronxNY
No way Bloomberg can open schools. He would be a maniac to do that. Back in I think 2006 we got like 26 inches (approx) and he opened the schools that Monday and we weren't even plowed, I'm battling them now because last storm, my son's (who is autistic) bus never came to get him, couldn't get to my house and they marked him absent, having 100% attendance is an obsession of his, sorry to go way off topic

I had a quarter inch in 3 minutes. That is 5 inches/per. Based on radar returns, BDL precip total of 0.43" in one hour and 10 foot visibility, I would say it's legit. ParsippanyWX
With a general 12-18" across the board and taking into account the prodigious snow rates rarely seen, this should be clasified as a HECS. This is one we'll remember for years to come and one we'll refer back to.
