weathermd
About 7.5" here in Wayne. Upton's call of 12.2" is certainly within reach. agreee being greedy but one lightining strike would be great
danstorm
Can anyone explain meteorologically whats causing the tiny gradient between heavy thundersnow and light sleet? The dynamics/precip rate have overcome the warm layer. You should go over to snow very soon, like in the next 30 min.
FPizz
I can see maybe 300' right now. Wow!
Shades
Amazing that LGA has not reported TSSN yet. I will be shocked if it's not in their next obs. LGA is only a few (3-4) miles south from me. Thunder and lightning has been hard to miss (several strikes) the past several minutes here in Maspeth, very nearby to Flushing.

isnice
RU84789 "Heaviest snow of the storm - almost as heavy as the 12/26 blizzard - simply pouring snow out there at about 2" per hour rates. Could easily pick up 8" or more tonight at this rate on top of our 5.5" form part 1 and the 2" or so that have fallen since then. Awe inspiring out there - about to go for a shovel at halftime of the RU-Cincy hoops game (we're actually up 4 near the end of the first half on the road - Mike Rice will be the saviour of RU hoops)." that's no lie, getting pounded here in Morris County. Close to 8" since this morning. heavy/horizontal wind driven snow, wind really howling. I'm sure John in Scotch plains is experiencing the same. Unreal. Confirmed from northern Somerset county. Hardest snow of the storm.

sferic
It's snowing HARD here in Lynbrook, even with my neighbor's floodlight off I still can see the flakes and barely can see across the street. If nassau County can get 5 hours of this till let's say 3AM, we'll add 6- 8 inches for sure. But do you think Bloomberg will close NYC schools at 5AM?
