CTsnow
Going to see if someone I know in that area is online and ask him what's going on there. I thought it had to be bright banding...that's just too intense Live in Mystic, CT.....just went for a quick walk.....30%sleet ...70% snow....it was a quick transition. Clinch Leatherwood
if you haven't taken a peek at the radar from PHilly over to NYC take a moment and do so now. those are some of the highest snow fall rates i have ever seen on radar......there will be reports of a foot + in 3 hours time in NYC area. ez but don't get too jealous.....i found this tidbit .....chuck em high ELSEWHERE EXACT 8-14 INCHES OF SNOW...WITH HIGHEST AMOUNTS ALONG/EAST OF A NYC-HVN-ORH LINE WITH ACCUMULATIONS TEMPERED SOMEWHAT OVER THE SOUTH SHORE/TWIN FORKS OF LONG ISLAND WHERE THE MIX WILL HOLD ON LONGER. SNOW FALL RATES OF 2-3" AN HOUR ARE POSSIBLE ALONG AND EAST OF THE NYC-HVN-ORH LINE...WITH 1-2" AN HOUR RATES POSSIBLE FURTHER WEST. LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS ARE POSSIBLE...ESPECIALLY UNDERNEATH THE CORE OF THE BAND. not that is the Ny AFD so tell me that is hvn,ct and orh, ma right All seems reasonable...it's going to fall somewhere in this area on the HRRR, give or take 10 maybe 20 miles. TalcottWx
Me thinks no sleeping tonight. Especially seeing as my gut tells me someone gets absolutely obliterated tonight. I haven't seen values for banding and fronto like this on the spc page all season long. Says alot seeing as how many good storms we have had. I don't want to throw out #'s but I think someone sees something extreme.

nutmegfriar
I think we're starting to establish a western boundary on the whole thing. The area highlighted in the MD, which was said to be much later from 02z to 09z, seems to be right on target. Eastern CT has to be a mix...SN here looking to be SN+ real soon. The MD also said it would be all snow at 02z, so we'll see. Heavy snow. LARGE flakes.
