Western half of LI including NYC should be all snow by about 11ish.. I think what we are witnessing is the development of unbelievable dynamics associated with this storm.. So yes, LI may lose some moisture to sleet etc.. I think we'll end up with a great thumping of snow- 6-12" (in addition to what we've received already)

8-14" total seems reasonable right now...

Btw, as someone else said earlier, sleet is very underrated... I came to the conclusion that after VD 2007 storm sleet shouldn't always be regarded as BAD...

Anyhow, LI is about to get hit by these bands coming up from the south- it will most likely be heavy sleet with some flakes mixed in but as the night progresses and the whole area of preip pivots - the precip will quickly turn to all snow and we'll see some prolific snow rates..

Enjoy everyone..

Jeff

I missed your post..we changed over already....pressure changes are noted here....slightly closed doors are opening and closing....this is going to be a classic

I'm south of you, the storm is south of me and your getting a big enough pressure change to open and close doors slightly?? Think you need to seal the house better Lol. I've been holding at 29.50 for last 30 or so minutes.

One thing to remember is that sleet actually counts as snow. The ratios are 2:1 but its still a form of snow. And if the snow we would have gotten would have had 4:1 ratios like they did in DC, the sleet accumulation rate would be half of what the snowfall accumulation rate would have been.

looks like its more snow than sleet right now
